Evil always seeks a foothold. We must not give it one.
The electrifying conclusion to the New York Times and Indiebound bestselling Serpent & Dove trilogy is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Kendare Blake.
Lou has spent her whole life running. Now, after a crushing blow from Morgane, the time has come to go home—and claim what is rightfully hers.
But this is no longer the Lou her friends knew. No longer the Lou who captured a chasseur’s heart. A darkness has settled over her, and this time it will take more than love to drive it out.
From Serpent & Dove to Blood & Honey and concluding with Gods & Monsters, Shelby Mahurin's stunning fantasy trilogy delivers thrills and romance.

What an adventure it took me on with my beloved crew! I really enjoyed seeing more of Belterra. I especially loved journeying to Le Présage - a city under the sea L'Eau Mélancolique. All of the details from the city, to Le Palais de Cristal (a palace/ship in the city), to the appearances of the melusines who live in the city. I found it to be fascinating and I loved it all!
This book had me feeling ALL the emotions. I can't tell you how many times it had me teary eyed. Old wounds were ripped open, and honestly I'm happy they were with how it all turned out.
Such a great ending to this story. I'm truly going to miss this world and these characters. I'm sad that it's over. As with every series I love I just want more. 😆 I'd love more adventures with this special group. Even from other characters pov, like Coco or Beau, short stories from the melusines, and Célie. Anything to stay in this world with these characters I've come to love ever since reading the first book.

YA Fantasy Romance
In the third and final book of the 'Serpent & Dove' series, it picks up where the second book left off, with Lou, Reid, and company recovering from the events in the second book, swearing to do anything to end the evil that Lou's mother is spawning in the world.
Since this is a part of a series, I can't say much because I don't want to give anything away.
In all honesty, this book, and the series, were a disappointment. They were all good, were nicely written, went along at a good pace, and the characters were unique, but I don't feel that the books lived up to all of the hype.
There are adult themes, (sex and violence) and even though they are not overly described, this book (series) isn't suitable for readers under fourteen.

The epic conclusion to the Serpent & Dove trilogy was absolutely perfect. We wrap up all of the intense storylines, we have all our favorite characters doing the things we love most about them (banter, banter, and more banter), and we go out in delightful fashion.
The beginning dragged for me, not because the story was dragging, but because the writing was disorienting. The descriptions and emotions just didn't flow well (obviously, there were certain characters who were acting different for *reasons* based on the ending of the previous book). That slow start was more than made up for with a great middle and conclusion.
It had been a couple months and a quite a few other books read between reading Serpent & Dove, Blood & Honey, and Gods & Monsters - to the point I had very much forgotten characters that were casually mentioned in previous books and reappeared here. I think there were a lot of assumptions that the reader wouldn't need to be reminded who those characters were. I would have appreciated the nice SLAP in the face, drown me with the quick summary as to why we should remember this character and why they were important to bring up now.
While the ending was EVERYTHING, I think I still felt a bit... disappointed. Not because it didn't deliver, because it did, but I think I imagined it being more. There was a death that was unnecessary, didn't serve the plot at all, and didn't make me feel anything. Sadly, at that point, I was thinking 'get on with it and go back to the main plot' which is a hard cringe for me.
The epilogue was a nice touch, but I think it might have been trying a little too much. Once again, I wanted that SLAP in the face reminder that we did not get at all. Left me wanting more, and not in a good way. Still, Reid and Lou's storyline wrapped up quite nicely. The tension throughout the book with them was absolutely thrilling. I am saddened that I will not get more of them.

Perfection. Truly that is the single best way to sum up not just ‘Gods & Monsters’ but the trilogy as a whole too. This series hasn’t just lived up to my expectations; it’s exceeded them. The entire time that I was lost in the author’s world I was utterly enraptured and brimming with delight. There were a lot of dark, disturbing and despair inducing moments, true, but I was in love with reading throughout this entire series. I didn’t want to stop for a single second. Truthfully I’m utterly in awe of this series and can honestly say that it’s up there with my favourites of all time now.
There’s so much to gush about and praise that I truly don’t know exactly where to start. The writing was beautiful and mesmerising and there were so many segments that I longed to share. The imagery was beautiful and some of the speeches really hit home. The world that the series is set within continued to fascinate me to no end. The action was non stop; twists and turns literally lurking around every corner. It was dark and disturbing at times; laugh out loud hilarious at others. There were times when I could have cried and moments when I actually had the urge to hug this book close to my chest.
Character wise I’m honestly in awe. Every individual within these pages is well crafted, developed and utterly intriguing. The villains are fascinating in their downright savagery. There were moments when I flinched. Truly. The heroes are delightful and bring so much warmth to my heart too. And Lou? Oh she’s up there with Jude (from ‘The Cruel Prince’) when it comes to my favourite characters now. The romance is so believable and engulfing. The love leaps off of the page and the sultry scenes are staggering. Needless to say I’m in love with this book.
All too often finales in a series leave me feeling frustratingly letdown. In general I do enjoy them – it’s rare to find yourself suddenly struggling to like something that you’d previously loved – but they have an annoying tendency to rush the endings I find. When a series builds up to a big, crushing conflict I all too frequently find that it falls flat in one way or another. That, when you take the past into account, the final conflict feels too easy almost. That wasn’t the case here. Oh no. This was the perfect ending to this series. It tied everything up wonderfully and I was glued to the pages throughout. In truth I can’t actually pick a favourite addition within this series which is rare; I do think I adore them all equally.
Let’s be honest, it goes without saying that I recommend this book. I would quite literally scream about it from the rooftops if possible, or at least shove copies of book one into numerous people’s hands. So if you haven’t already done so please, please do read this series. And if you adored any like it then please send your recommendations my way. Now I’ll just wait, impatiently, for the author’s next book to release.

Watching the story unfold and twist and turn, I couldn’t have predicted the next move if I’d tried. Shelby Mahurin kept me guessing at every turn and I delighted every plot twist, every unforeseen event, every surprise had me cackling and sobbing and gasping.
It is bittersweet to say goodbye to old friends in this series, it truly felt like I knew each character as if they were a close and treasured friend. Lou and her wicked pranks. Coco and her kind heart and clever schemes, Beau and his dashing charm, Reid and his stoic, loyal grumpiness, and Ansel with his surprising wisdom and selfless heart. This will be a series that will stay with me for a long time and that I read again and again until the books fracture in my hands.
I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Reid continues to question who he is now that magic is part of his life. He is no longer the Chasseur he strived his whole life to be but doesn’t feel connected to his magical heritage and wonders if he even wants to be. As his internal battles continue he must also fight for Lou to bring the woman he fell in love with back to him.
Decisions will be made and words spoken that will bring the group to its knees and force them into situations they may never return from. Lou and Reid will face the ultimate test of their love as their memories, personalities and pasts are altered and twisted. Evil is closing in on all sides, new allies are forged and old ones lost. Can these four friends survive the showdown with Morgane and the forces of the Crown? As witches, werewolves, humans, creatures and gods converge, the final battle for their lives begins.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. Emotionally wrecked and completely compelled. A tense, passionate and amazing ending to an addictive and fascinating trilogy. Lou and Reid are one of the best fictional couples I've read and two of my favourite individual characters. They are such complete opposites yet work so well together. Their love is emboldening, powerful and fun. Inner strength, loyalty and love are at the core of their being. The story is woven perfectly together and I am happy with how all the plot threads concluded. I will miss this world and the people within it but I will return to visit often.

Beau and cocos back and forth digs were so entertaining 🤣 Beau and his no filter charming mouth became one of my favourites characters I loved the relationship between him and Lou and his brotherly affections toward Reid
I was a bit dubious when it came to the waters and hoping it would heal Lou and I thought maybe that it would be too filler but I loved the twist that it was Constantine that guarded it and ansel and Lou finally getting closure was something I didn’t know I needed
Also cocos mother being Angelique was not something I was expecting but I loved how the stories from serpent and dove were involved it was a nice twist!
Célie was an unexpected addition to the gang but was surprisingly a nice fit, I loved how she came out of her porcelain shell and stood up for herself I love a bit of girl power!
The last 150 pages were just amazing and really redeemed the series for me and had me on the edge of my seat! I think my favourite thing about Lou is her passion for saying the most inappropriate things at the worst times🤣 iconic
That epilogue was just perfect I really could not have asked for a better ending and it was so nice that it was from ansel as perspective. I didn’t really understand the purpose of ansel dying but it really became clear we needed to see Lou and coco overcome their grief and grow from it
Overall I enjoyed this a lot more than blood and honey but serpent and dove still reigns for me!

From belly laughing, to anger, to worry, and sobbing. This book is pure gold. I have read many books in my time but I have never walked away from the end of a series feeling more content than I have with the final book in the trilogy of Serpent and Dove.
Characters that I didn’t see the overall fuss of previously *cough* Celie and Beau *cough*, have now become some of my favourite characters ever written. Shelby Mahurin did a phenomenal job of developing, playing out, and completing the arcs of all of the characters in the series. People may argue that, like blood and honey, too many characters were introduced, and the concept of mermaids, witches, werewolves, dragons and gods all in one novel was cliché. At times, I may agree with this, but Shelby’s writing did not make in cliché at all. I personally believe that removing one ‘monster’ from the story would have resulted in a completely different outcome.
The final verse and take me to church are both two of the most beautifully written scenes I have ever read, and you can tell that Mahurin takes great care in making sure things are right. There is nothing wrong about this book.
Some may argue that death in painful, some may fear death, as did Nicholina, but death can also bring out the beauty in others. Lou had a tough time throughout the three books, but her cradling Morgane shows the Lou never lost her beautiful heart. A heart a pure as the gold that runs through the magic patterns.
Shelby is and will always be an automatic buy for me, and is one of the best authors of this generation. It’s true what she says. Blood and Honey had to walk (for me it was a jog), so Gods and Monsters could run, but boy did this book fly.
