A lovely Christmas treat

I love Carousels, Kimberly Sustad, Paul Campbell and of course, Kathie Lee Gifford. This movie is very sweet. There are lots of sweet scenes, snow and antiques. Nice characters and Christmas scenery to enjoy too. While not a fan of movies whereby one person is in a relationship with someone else then they fall in love with someone, this idea seems to be a mainstay for Hallmark. With a very busy boyfriend who surprises her with an engagement ring, a beautiful antiques whatever she is, goes to see her beloved Aunt after he is too busy to go with her. She arrives near Martha's Vineyard to see her Aunt but Aunt sends her to Nantucket to go antiquing by herself after she gets a call from her editor. Man these people are busy! Anyway a new relationship evolves and an engagement ends. Two people decide they would rather be together and throw a little matchmaking in to the pile and wala: Another Hallmark moment. This movie is based on a true story. Lovely. The actors did not seem to have the right chemistry but they do get along and they do connect on a sweet level. I liked the movie enough to buy it. Often times I rewatch movies and enjoy them more later. I will recommend this one as it is clean and sweet to watch. Both of these actors are funny and I think do comedy best. However this story is a bit bittersweet. Enjoy!

A Special Christmas Delight

I purchased this film because I had seen the lead actors in other Hallmark Christmas movies that I liked. I also like movies with unique settings, especially Christmas scenery that is not all snow. There is some snow in "A Godwink Christmas" but viewers also earn a free trip to Martha's Vineyard & New England. I was intrigued but not totally smitten by the film the first time I watched it, but now I watch it often. Kathy Lee Gifford is a charming narrator and supporting actress. This trip is worth the price of travel. This is also a great family film because part of the secondary plot is community service plus the craft of making Christmas ornaments out of found materials that cost nothing and save the environment. It is a "green" film and parents and children can engage in post-viewing chat about the crucial importance of communities bonding and helping one another.

Warm & inspirational Christmas tale of two people who were meant to be together!

Pretty Paula is a St. Louis girl who loves buying & selling antiques, and ultimately wants to open her own store. Meanwhile, her longtime boyfriend Daniel (Giles Panton) is the workaholic executive-type who surprises her with an offer of marriage, which she accepts with misgivings. She then flies off to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts to be with her Aunt Jane (Kathie Lee Gifford), and while there gets sidetracked off to Edgartown where she meets a down-to-Earth guy named Gary (Paul Campbell), who proves to be her true soulmate. What happens next is somewhat predictable, but it's all very well done. The casting is solid, and it's actually got a pleasant Christmas "feel" about it!

Wonderful film, but wrong title and image on Instant Video

"A Godwink Christmas" is a wonderful movie. As wonderful as the movie it purports to be ("A Veteran's Christmas") because of the image that is showing. Please straighten up this error, Amazon, as it is confusing. With that said, I highly recommend "A Godwink Christmas". The actors are wonderful. The setting everything you would expect from a Hallmark Christmas movie. I especially loved the carousel. Highly recommended!

Especially entertaining/fascinating if you believe in a God whose involved in the universe and people. You can compare your own experiences. Paul Campbell is a favorite actor. So smooth, understated, likable. Watched multiple times already.

This is inspired by a true love story. Paula is having mixed emotions over her recent engagement. She's invited to her Aunt Jane's home in Nantucket. She meets a charming inn owner Gery at Martha's Vineyard. When bad weather prevents Paula from returning to Aunt Jane, she stays at Gery's inn. They begin to develop feelings for each other. Will Paula continue with her engagement? Does she find true love with Gery? Does she take Aunt Jane's advice to remember that sometimes we receive messages from above to help determine which direction life should take.

I've read and reread the Godwink books many times. Perhaps the true story is just too unbelievable; but this movie version is not nearly as compelling as the story of Paula and Gery that is told a few times in the books. The modern cliches in moviemaking are as annoying as seeing Kathie Lee Gifford say pushy rude "get lost" remarks (she is not portraying the warm fuzzy aunt that is apparently in the script). The romantic leads are the only redeemable characterizations in this otherwise poorly acted movie. Can't watch this one again. It was offensive enough the first time.
