Convoluted Casserole
The story is about the drought and consequences of water shortage in California with the focus on greedy landowners who duped others and finagled an unfair share of precious water in the Central Valley for their use. This is a subject that interests me and that I'm familiar with. I don't normally consider myself a compleat idiot, but I couldn't keep track of what was going on with this convoluted casserole of a story line. Little snippets of this, little snippets of that, and it seemed to me that the story wasn't really going anywhere. In truth, I didn't watch through to the end, where miraculously they may have (or may not have) pulled the plethora of loose ends together. It's an overused cliche, but watching Season 3 was like watching a dog chase its tail. In addition to what I would consider a convoluted and horrible script, there are some uncomfortable and stupid dream sequences (or very odd drug induced scenes) that confused rather than moved the story forward. I suspect these scenes must have been an attempt to include some weird glints of atmosphere because they certainly didn't make any sense to me. I hate to see Billy Bob Thornton slog his way through this mess.
I recommend that you watch a few episodes to see if Goliath - Season 3 makes any sense to you.

I found this comment by R. Cline under the review by "pleinelune". The insight is so interesting that I think everyone should see it. I copied and printed it under my review. I would drop it as leaflets from an airplane if I could. Here is the comment written by R. Cline:

I will have to agree with reviewer pleinelune, who described season 3 as David Lynch meets Goliath. I am into episode 4. The series has been bizarre. Season 1 was dominated by the writing of David E Kelly and Jonathan Shapiro; both excellent writers. Kelley wrote for LA Law, Picket Fences, Boston Legal (a favorite of mine) and The Practice, among others. Jonathan Shapiro, an Assistant US Atty, holds graduate degrees from Harvard and was a Rhodes Scholar and co-authored with Kelley. Why did they bail the show Goliath? I would really like to know that story. David Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro brought brilliance to the screen. Season 3 tries to make up for the loss of genius and creativity in a bizarre display of drug induced hallucinations and some weird antics of a crow. Season 3 is dominated by the writing of Steve Turner, who writes mainly about pop musicians. Co-authoring with Turner is Marissa Wegrzyn who wrote a play entitled The Butcher of Bugaboo described by one critic as simply a ridiculous play. That's about the best the critic could give it.
I miss the clever writing of Kelley and Shapiro. I predict there will not be a season 4. To quote the reviewer Dr. Cyd: My condolences to the great cast.

OMINOUS BIRDS, HALLUCINOGENS, AND DAVID LYNCH MEETS GOLIATH....BADLY!
FIRST, was a BIG FAN of SEASON ONE, SEASON TWO, not quite as much, but it was still at least kind of the same vibe.

WTH happened in SEASON THREE? SURREAL, NONSENSICAL expletive deleted mixed in with a basic story of water rights. COULD have been an interesting plot, but instead it was like TWO stories in one. One having strange vaguely supernatural whatever and then the basic story of the water rights.

WHY did they feel the need to add all that, again expletive deleted, rather than just make a great storyline re the mysterious water rights and shady characters.

DIALOGUE and SUBPLOTS make NO SENSE. For example, Billy gets hit on the head after seeing drilling and doesn't seem to really care. It's like he's sleepwalking through this as are the other actors. The only mild ray of amusement is the feisty Patty and even she's off her game. OK, they can only work with the lines and direction they're given, but it's SO NOT WORTH MY TIME and I am DISAPPOINTED after the long wait for season three.

OH and speaking of how characters are written, HAS THERE EVER been a more annoying character than Janet? She could have just been fun and quirky, instead even 15 seconds of the dialogue and antics they wrote for her go a VERY LONG way and yet she's in and out of this season WAAAY TOO MUCH. I would feel a lot of sympathy for someone like her in REAL LIFE, as she obviously has issues, but they wrote her like we're supposed to find her....funny? Entertaining? Some sort of parody of someone with issues? Just made the mish mash of a season 3 even worse.

Unless you want to watch a bizarre mash up of vaguely David Lynch (and NOT in a good way) and the original Goliath Season One, WATCH ANYTHING ELSE.

What is this garbage?!?!?!?!?
Season 1 was great, Season 2 was a jumbled up pile of garbage, and I just started Season 3...…. Dollars to donuts there won't be a 4. What is this mess?!?!?! It's not creative, it has no identity. It's like they took the worst parts from 10 different genres and combined them into a show that goes every which way but practical. Do us a favor, kill off Billy Bob and cancel the show!!!!!!!!!!!

So we can all agree that season 2 did'nt exist
Season 1 was amazing, but I think we can all agree that season 2 doesn't exist and that season 3 looks like it may in fact be the actual season 2 (at least the trailer looks good)

If I could give it Zero stars I would.
If I could give it zero stars I would. This season starts ok and then about 3/4 through the 1st episode it takes on a drug-induced trance and picks up a very annoying narrator. I could not get through the 2nd episode. This series is done. Sorry BBT this was bad very bad.

Absolute Trash
I thought nothing could be worse than season 2. Season 3 proved me wrong.

Season 1 was fantastic.

If a season 4 comes out, I won't even consider watching it.

Season 3 is a big disappointment
Very disappointed in season 3 so far and I just turned it off in the middle of episode 4, unable to tolerate any more useless filler. The episodes are filled with scenes inspired by psychedelic hallucinations, worthless fillers, and a timeline that jumps around. This was a great series, but no more.
