A rogue ruined . . .
He is the Killer Duke, accused of murdering Mara Lowe on the eve of her wedding. With no memory of that fateful night, Temple has reigned over the darkest of London’s corners for twelve years, wealthy and powerful, but beyond redemption. Until one night, Mara resurfaces, offering the one thing he’s dreamed of . . . absolution.
A lady returned . . .
Mara planned never to return to the world from which she’d run, but when her brother falls deep into debt at Temple’s exclusive casino, she has no choice but to offer Temple a trade that ends in her returning to society and proving to the world what only she knows...that he is no killer.
A scandal revealed . . .
It’s a fine trade, until Temple realizes that the lady—and her past—are more than they seem. It will take every bit of his strength to resist the pull of this mysterious, maddening woman who seems willing to risk everything for honor . . . and to keep from putting himself on the line for love.

Mara Lowe is not dead. She was 16 when she was to marry Temple’s father (she was to be Temple’s fourth stepmother). Twelve years later, she returns because her younger brother, Christopher Lowe, has gotten into debt at the partners gaming hell and she wishes to save him and recover her money that Christopher has lost.
The first scene between Mara and Temple is really great. It isn’t a spoiler to state that Temple is a bit annoyed to discover that Mara is alive. The scenes throughout the book between the two are fantastic. Mara is a fighter and certainly a match for the boxer extraordinaire Temple. This book is a bit more plot heavy than the other books of the series and the two characters struggle against one another more. It is more of a prize fight and the reader experiences round after round of action between Temple and Mara. Without giving too much way, the two have some incredible battles in Temple’s boxing ring at the Fallen Angel!
NO GOOD DUKE GOES UNPUNISHED is a dark and emotionally intense novel. Temple and Mara have a long way to go to get their HEA. Temple, a character who has accepted his fate, is now consumed with rage and a lust for vengeance. However, that desire is not natural for Temple who struggles with his desire to redeem himself and his desire for Mara.
I have enjoyed all of MacLean’s novels. She is now one of my favorite writers. I find that her books are filled with incredible, individual characters. They are memorable and no two of her books are the same. I also really enjoy The Rules of Scoundrels in particular because her books are dark and filled with tension. When the HEA finally happens, I feel that I have traveled alongside the characters and rejoice with them.
NO GOOD DUKE GOES UNPUNISHED is the darkest novel in the series because both characters are deeply hurt by their past. In the previous two books in the series, the heroine provided the light in the story. Here, Mara is the catalyst for the darkness in Temple’s life so their romance is much more complicated. In fact, Temple is the victim here and Mara is the one who feel unworthy. She has harmed Temple immensely in the past and continues to harm him throughout the novel. It is Temple who ultimately gives his forgiveness and acceptance to Mara.
To me this book isn’t quite as good as ONE GOOD EARL DESERVERS A LOVER (the second book of the series) but that book is one of my all time favorite novels. That being said, NO GOOD DUKE GOES UNPUNISHED is at least as good as A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME and in some ways I like this more because the characters are now familiar to me. I loved the interaction with all the Scoundrels and their wives. This is the first book of the series where we really get to see all the characters together and the crisis which brings all our characters into the same room was emotional and heartbreaking. These Scoundrels are not only partners but are also a family.
Finally, I give a WOW, WOW, WOW for the Epilogue. This is one book that you want to read without spoilers for the Epilogue. MacLean reveals a big secret about Chase, whose book is the next in the series. My mouth dropped when I read the reveal and I had to read it twice to believe what I was reading. I think that the Reader who does not peek at the ending will get a really great surprise and I can’t wait for Chase’s book.
NO GOOD DUKE DOES UNPUNISHED continues a fantastic series by Sarah MacLean. A reader doesn’t have to read the other books of the series before reading this one, but honestly, this book is more enjoyable if you have already encountered Temple. Start with A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME and then continue with ONE GOOD EARL DESERVES A LOVER (my favorite of the series) before reading this book. Temple is important in both those novels and a reader will have a better idea of his relationship with the other Scoundrels and their wives.
I give this book a 5 plus stars! I only give this rating to books that I love the first time I read them but that are also ones that I will re-read. I’ve already read this one three times and I expect that I will read it again and again.
Temple was once the carefree Duke of Lamont, easy to smile and quick to enjoy the frivolities of life. At least he was until the night he was accused of killing his soon-to-be stepmother. From that moment on his life took a dark turn. He was disowned and he's treated as a pariah and a dangerous animal who's put on display every time he enters the boxing ring. Anger fuels his sparring, anger at those who put themselves in debt to enter the ring and anger at himself for where life has led him. I ached for the man fate made him become. Rage bubbling below the surface is his constant companion and I was waiting for the event to unleash that rage. Seeing a ghost from his past throws his life into disarray. He's now forced into interacting with the woman who ruined his life but he finds himself drawn to her and the verbal sparring that is a large part of their relationship. He's gone from a solitary existence to the chaos of children and the woman who angers him and excites him too. I enjoyed seeing Temple find someone to care for him and help him regain what he thought he lost. After being put through the emotional ringer he deserves a HEA.
The event that completely transforms Temple's life once again is the return of Mara Lowe, the woman he was accused of killing. One would expect her to feel guilty over the damage she caused, but that's not he case. She's a strong-willed woman who's unrepentant and unapologetic. Her reasons for coming back aren't to wholy help Temple but more to help herself. As a smart woman capable of taking care of herself she proposes a trade where he returns the money her brother squandered so she can fund her orphanage and she helps him regain his place in society by reentering the land of the living in a cleverly planned out series of events. Mara appears cold and uncaring at first but slowly thaws the longer she's around Temple. As we get glimpses into the abusive childhood that led her to running away that fateful night to the loving care she now takes of those who have no one the woman who emerges is an immensely likable one. She's now the one taking care of Temple, being his defender in many subtle ways, and I found myself rooting for her.
The relationship between these two is intensely sensual. Sexual tension is their constant companion resulting in lots of hot and heavy foreplay that had me greatly anticipating one fiery final culmination. Along with their intense sexual attraction comes biting verbal banter that made for many entertaining moments showing them to be a perfect match. Surrounding these two compelling main characters is a cast of colorful secondary characters. From Lavender the pig to the children in the orphanage to Mara's brother each of these characters added a unique element to the story binding Temple and Mara closer together. As the third book in The Rules of Scoundrels series we get to revisit past protagonists and see where life has led them. We also get a glimpse into the next installment with a twist that promises big ramifications for The Fallen Angels that leaves me very excited. From start to finish I was enthralled by this intensely emotional read and its damaged characters fighting for happiness. Ms. MacLean once again proves why she's fast becoming my go-to author for historical reads and why I wholeheartedly recommend each and every one of her books!

I read the first one 'A rouge by any other name' and found that slow and wanting then read the second 'One good earl deserves a lover' hoping for better and I put that book down 4 times as I found it really hard to commit as it was unconvincing skipped most of the pages and I have never done that before!!!
Moving onto 'No good duke goes unpunished' was hoping for so much more and still nothing, found each scene repeating the last scenes words again and again! I came to the conclusion that there is no real detail of place or character and I mean in the sense of setting a scene or picture in your head it can feel rather 2D where you yourself are writing in the details and as an avid book reader all my life that is the one thing that never needs to happen when reading a good book!
I really don't want to give this book a negative review but I somehow feel cheated! It feels rushed, onto the next one which does happen when there is a series. I wish authors would take their time writing and produce great fiction rather then forgettable novels. I will purchase the final one in the series as I personally need a conclusion with all the time and money invested but as for any future novels from this author I am still on the fence about that?
I will let you be judge and read for yourself maybe I wanted something more surround then tunnel vision!
If you want everything of a novel read Lisa Kleypas no one does it better it almost feels like you've watched a visual of the story, SUPERB!!!
P.S.
The best novel from this author Sarah Maclean has got to be 'ELEVEN SCANDALS TO START TO WIN A DUKES HEART' loved it so much read it more times than I can count and will read again and again! You fall in love with both characters and beautifully written, please Sarah more like that!!!!!!!!

To give to many details will spoil the anticipation trust me if you like humour and strong alfa men you will love these books.
Also try her previous series of 3 books starting with "Nine rules to break when romancing a rake".

First two books I didn't have a problem with . Hope the next book is better but if the editing is as sloppy I would advise ms Maclean to change editor/publisher as they are not helping you. Nowhere near the standard of the "Nine Rules to break when romancing a rake" trio.
