What Others Are Saying
“It is the stories of those who have radically followed Jesus that stir my heart and ignite a deeper faith for what God has called me to. It is in the mountains and the valleys, the challenges and the victories and the tears and the celebrations that I see the faithfulness and goodness of God on display. God brought Kris and Kathy Vallotton into my life when I was a young man. Their lives and the stories they told helped shape me into who I am, and they are still with me today. I know that The Good, the God and the Ugly will do the same for you.”
Banning Liebscher, founder and pastor, Jesus Culture; author
From the Back Cover
At just twelve years of age, Kathy met Kris, age fifteen, and for her it was love at first sight. Before her lay the adventure of doing life with a man who would become an influential prophetic leader; raising children while being part of one of the largest Spirit-filled networks on the globe; and her own position of leadership, sparking a movement with her husband that has impacted much of the world.
In this unfiltered, messy and transparent narrative, Kathy Vallotton, a Bethel Church matriarch, traces her life with Kris as she recounts their early married life, his heart-wrenching nervous breakdown, stressful financial setbacks, the jarring experience of living with a prophet, learning to develop a healthy Kingdom culture at home--and how she grew to trust God in the midst of it. You will love her vulnerability, and will grow along with her as you read her hilarious and touching account.
Kathy Vallotton is co-founder, senior overseer and administrator of Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry and WorshipU in Redding, California, as well as a member of the senior leadership team of Bethel Church. Her practical wisdom and prophetic insight combine to give her a unique and profound ministry. In her free time, Kathy likes to ride horses, fish and hunt. She and her husband, Kris, have four grown children and many grandchildren. --This text refers to the hardcover edition.

A few highlights that struck me from her book:
- Her core values that are woven into their family gatherings
- Her journey to creating an empowering family culture
- Act to my husband like I am always "feeling the love" even when I'm not. Feelings follow actions.
- "Find your village people and serve them like your own family"
- "Caterpillar season"
- Children being celebrated, not tolerated
- Look at the positive instead of the negative in life circumstances
- In difficult circumstances, ask myself "when was the last time I felt Him near me?" and go back there.
- The Lord saying, "Tell me whatever is on your heart."
Also, I really love the way that she writes. It was better than a movie in my mind. As she was telling of the day she met her husband, I was experiencing all the feelings of the first time I met my own husband. It was sweet to reminisce about our dating experience because of her story.
I really felt in my heart that she has more books in store for the world. She could even write fiction - she for sure has the imagery down.
Overall, such a great book! I highly recommend.

Easy read & very real and encouraging - we can think leaders sail through life without many hard issues to deal with - this certainly scuppers that but nevertheless declares the goodness of God in every situation.
