This falls into the category of comedic films that could have been better had the timing and execution of the dialogue been better. The premise is ok, but the actors as a whole aren't delivering with the right kind of pace. With the exception of Jessica Alba. I don't know much about her as an actress, but her acting was spot on here. She has natural comedic timing. Everybody else's acting was lacking. Basically it seems the only purpose of this film was to get as many bimbo actresses as possible to undress. Sorry - doesn't cut it for me. There were a couple of good one liners, but not enough to make it worthwhile.
If you are a twelve year old boy or someone with arrested development, you will love this film. If you are a mature adult, don't bother. I haven't written reviews on films, but this was so bad, SO BAD, I felt I needed to warn others with a working brain. I have no idea how it got so high a rating except that they were from those in the previous mentioned first category. I was in the mood for a comedy, this however, is not funny. It's sad and I felt embarrassed for the actors for participating in such garbage. The premise seemed interesting/different which is why I watched it. What it was was jr high boys humor/fantasy with adult actors. I feel like my brain needs a shower. Sooo disappointing and all I can say is the writer and director need to GROW UP.
I never thought I'd see the day when film that's supposed to be a mainstream romantic comedy, veers into "comedic" "soft core porn" territory with main coitus scenes and topless or just plain naked women. Interesting. Truly. That's not some hetero-guy word for "yeah! let's have more!" Nope. I found it tedious, to be honest.
Eh, I guess it's a film that needed to be made at some point. I mean it's an interesting story in and of itself, but the sex just seemed excessive to me. I don't mean that with some high minded moral superiority complex. Honestly, I got tired of seeing all the sex. Seeing it is like watching people shake hands, or so I've said many a time. The implicit promise is that at some point during the act you'll get involved and have sexual pleasure derived from watching the act. But, even here in a story vein, it's just over the top for me. Admittedly parts were funny, or somewhat funny, and I suppose breaking taboos for the sake of a society that has a healthier take on adult copulation isn't a bad thing, but truly I think the amount was just over the top.
But, like I say, the actual story of a man being cursed and not being able to get romance through his sexual adventures, is a pretty good concept. Everything is professionally done to a T. The lighting, the shot set up, and everything shows a lot of craftsmanship and care went into giving this film a real honest to goodness professional look. But I think other than the sex, the film itself could have been cut down by several minutes story wise, and been a bit funnier and less risque.
I guess the thing that gets me is that you really don't see more of a quest to get to the heart of the matter, nor really explore the psychology of these women willing to have a roll in the hay in order to satiate a deeper desire. Because right now the running gag is that women love him and leave him for a higher purpose, but the humor isn't very smart, though various, and at times worth a chuckle.
If you're looking for sexual material, there are thousands of websites and other media willing to satiate your visual (or literary) desires. If you're looking for a sex comedy, eh, it's not unfunny, and has its moments, and is certain better than the Doris Day or Woody Allen alleged "sex comedies" from the 60s and 70s, but the film does get on your nerves after a while.
And I think that's the best way I can sum this thing up.

So, just being honest here- I would give almost any movie Jessica Alba is in at least 4 stars because, well, I'm a guy. Lol. But, this movie I just could not get myself to give above 2 stars. It was funnyish. But hallow. Like, very shallow. It's just, I dont know. It's just so predictable and just shallow. I dont know how else to say it. If it wasn't for all the nudity I would have to say it's a kids movie. It's literally that simple of a movie. The only thing that this movie has of any substance is in the form of the silliness of her being a klutz. Yes, I said silliness, not even really funny- definitely not hilarious. I mean, for example, her turning around and accidentally bumping into a sign and almost knocking it over. That's the extent of the type of clumsiness comedy they presented. And that's it. Long story short- guy meets girl, they like eachother, she is a little clumsy, they fall in love, he screws up, and ends up having to chase her down on her way out of town to tell her he loves her. That is the whole movie. Literally. Theres no intelligence to the show, no depth. Worth 2 stars. After finishing the movie you feel like you have only been watching for a half an hour and find yourself asking, was that it? I was surprised at the end because nothing had really happened yet. This movie will make you feel like you wasted your time. And that sucks cuz Jessica Alba is in it. Lol. Anyway, watch at your own risk of lost time.
the actors were all well and good; the plot and theme were ok, but the side parts [10 y-o birthday sex party, casting spells, them talking about blow jobs] were far too filthy. Then as adults, the same theme [overt nudity and sex]; then the nice, handsome dentist's crazy actions and idiotic lunacy after this girl AS WELL AS his best friend the dirty boob-jobbist -- far too nonsensical, dirty and filth-filled to get this love point theme across. Writer/producer could have done way better to present a rom-com.
I avoided this movie for years because the trailer revealed that it would be crude and sophomoric, and I'm not a big fan of Dane Cook.
So, the crude/sophomoric facets were there. But it also contained a cute backstory, premiss, and love story. No, Dane Cook isn't the best actor in the world, and I never laughed out loud, but it was fun and original. It would stack up well against any Adam Sandler movie.
Overall: If you're easily offended, perhaps this isn't for you. But if you're old enough to watch an R movie, and are up for an original and entertaining story that requires no thought, this might fit the bill.
4.0 out of 5 starsA good, fun comedy with some classic lines!

I won't bother going into the storyline as it's not exactly full of depth - just read the main description.
What this is though is just a good, fun, Saturday night comedy. To be honest I rented it first time around and I thought it was going to be rubbish, but wanted to give it a go. It actually surprised me and is very, very funny and the storyline is very different to anything else.
It's probably pushing the boundaries of a woman's romantic comedy as it's definitely not a typical chick flic'. It's more of a rom com that you could actually get away with watching with your mates if you're a bloke - women will have to make their own judgements!
Don't expect to be astounded, but it would be in my top ten comedies I think.
