Vampire Cat Crawfield Russell is looking forward to a little down time with her best friend, Denise. But when witches crash the party, a fun getaway turns into a paranormal showdown.
Vampire Cat Crawfield is experiencing a new role as a mother. Turns out, trying to manage a perfect domestic life for her daughter is more...challenging than Cat ever imagined. Since things have finally quieted down in the undead world, her husband, Bones, suggests that Cat recharge by spending a girls-only getaway with her best friend, Denise.
Cat and Denise intend to spend the week doing nothing more than dancing, drinking, and sightseeing. Unfortunately, they stumble across a deadly summer solstice ritual performed by powerful witches who have no intention of letting their uninvited guests live to reveal what they saw. Will this girls-only getaway turn out to be the last vacation – ever! – for Cat and Denise?

Their child is opening up a vast potential for future adventures. It's nice when your favorite characters grow and mature into parents.
I look forward to the next book, as it is longer. I'm just not a fan of novellas.
This story was previously published in the Hex on the Beach anthology.
Cat is struggling in her new role as a mother. So Bones suggests she take a girls only vacation with her friend Denise. Instead of a peaceful break, they have a run in with vampire witches who are performing a solstice ritual.
It was so nice to get another Cat story. I missed her and her dangerous shenanigans. Cat and Denise are a pretty interesting team. I would totally read more about their adventures because these two are definitely trouble magnets. They did a pretty good job at trying to defeat these vampire witches. I do like that Bones and Spade did play a part in it because you know they can’t stay away from their wives.
Cat and Katie’s relationship is briefly discussed in this. It was very heartbreaking hearing Katie’s trauma but Cat really does a wonderful job with her. I love that we are seeing Cat and Bones as parents, and that their daughter isn’t normal. Because, let's face it, neither are they.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novella. I would love to see more novella’s in the future that give us a glimpse at the couples. I also enjoyed that we got to see Ashael again in this. I am really loving that demon and hope he gets his own book one day.
It's always great to catch up with Bones and Cat and Spade and Denise as well. I still wish for more full length books starring Cat and Bones. But this novella wasn't too shabby. It ended up being full of so much action and violence that it didn't really need a lot more in this particular story. As a plus, Cat's daughter was in a few scenes.
Recommended to readers of this series. If you haven't read the series, what on earth are you waiting for? One of the best PRN/UF series out there.
I admire the hell out of them, but wow.
I absolutely adore Ms Frost’s writing. The humor infused in the nail biting plots is priceless. Every character is so well developed & presented consistently throughout all the books. This book was no different even the minimal interactions with Bones & Spade reflected the personalities we all fell in love with.
Cat as a mom is hilarious. Nothing like a socially awkward killer to influence the young! Denise was her usual lovable self. Her dragon kicks some serious butt & you can’t help but cheer when she does. Poor ladies couldn’t even have a restful week away without chaos!
I have to say this is a series you’ll want to read several times. And this is book is another great addition! Enjoy!

Denise finally gets a piece of the action in this installment .
The only down side for me is I would have liked it a little longer .
