Beautiful heart wrenching story that tapped into all of my emotions. I absolutely love the blossoming love between Kas and Cevyn. The odds were stacked against as they had to navigate through their lives: Cevyn being an amazing caregiver and soulmate to her sister Ayte who battled severe mental issues and was abandoned and rejected by so many including her parents & Kas who is a loving father to his son who endured abuse and manipulation at the hands of his own mother. Whew! They were able to battle through those tragic moments and find their HEA. What a journey! I also have to state my love and adoration for Mrs. Opal and Kas's mini-me, Kas. Side eye for "best friend" Mindy! Great cameo appearance of Harlowe and Ghost. Just when I thought I found the author at her best, she pulls off this one topping all of her previous efforts. Readers prepare yourself for an emotional yet worthwhile journey.

I hate doing reviews. I’d prefer to shoot a quick note to the author letting them know I enjoyed the book. However, I made a promise that I’d start reviewing books this year, it’s really the least I can do after reading someone’s work, work that they put sweat and tears into. As fate would have it, this is my first read of the year.

Ashley, this shows how versatile of a story teller you are. I love the comedy in your books but I love the emotions equally. This book was detailed, emotionally charged and outright perfect. As sad as I was reading parts of it I wish it never ended.

Like I don't even have the words for how thoroughly goodT this book is! It was *all* of the emotions, with the reigning one being joy. Not happiness, but Joy. The way they took care of each other was the creme de la creme of love in action. When Cev said "it's lit over here," I felt that! Is it weird to envy a book character?!

"On Sight" is my absolute fave just from the sheer hilarity of those pages. Gravity comes in at a close second. The character development, the build up of Kas & Cev's relationship (and the hot seggz), the Kases, Ms. Opal - and especially the true aspects of Ayte and the illness she was consumed by - were everything, wrapped in a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Black Love Story!!

First let me start off by saying WOW. This is one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. I usually read for love. I need to see the happy ending that I strive for but have never been able to experience. I got so much more instead. I’m a mental health worker. And your depiction of Ayte’s cycles. Her mania. Depression. The stress on those closest to her. The inability to empathize. I see so much of this on a daily basis but you allowed me to feel it. I cried so much mainly because SOMEBODY gets it. So thank you. I pray ppl will read this and understand what ppl struggle to fight through on a daily basis. Very well done!

Gravity is a perfectly titled story, it really captured the concept of the book. The story follows two sisters, Cevyn and Ayte, and their unforgettable bond. Cevyn is the definition of, “my sisters keeper.” I loved the way that Cevyn loved Ayte despite all of the challenges. The author really told the story of their sisterhood beautifully. I loved how grief was addressed, as well. Oftentimes we try to put on a brave face after tragedy strikes but the important key is going through the process of grieving and that’s what Cevyn did. It wasn’t pretty; it was tough to read about but it was necessary.

I love love Kas! ❤️🥺He was just what Cevyn needed. In spite of having his own challenges, he still, “showed up” for Cevyn in her time of need. His BM worked my nerves but Kas’ character was the type that he always tried to do the right thing and give chances.

I appreciated the theme of mental health and the way that it impacts families, relationships, and the person themselves. Although at times this book was heavy and realistic, it had a good amount of happy and feel good moments. The story pulled me in from the beginning. I could visualize every scene as it happened, as if I were there. Great job on this one!

“The truth of the matter was nothing could outrun grief. Not only was she a nasty b, but she was a fast one too. Can’t forget strong. It felt like she’d never leave me alone. Like she’d forever be standing on my heart with stiletto heels. I was assured it wouldn’t last forever, but it felt like it.” — my absolute favorite quote. It was raw and exactly how I would describe grief.

This was the most beautifully written story dealing with mental health I think I have ever read. This author really did not shy away from tackling this hard and often taboo subject matter. This was gritty and felt personal. The balance of showing the importance of support and living through grief was so important and necessary. I'll be sitting with this story for a long time to come. I only wish Cevyn's mental health (outside of her grief) would have been addressed. The way she was constantly scrubbing herself clean brought to mind a different kind of mental illness. This book was really amazing. There is so much to unpack. Beautifully written and very authentic.
