Zenith has lost everyone he has love with the addition of the beloved grandfather who raised him has Alzheimer's and life threatening heart desease. Both have serious decisions to make regarding their careers the only thing certain in their lives is their love for each other. There are serious discussions about the care of the elderly, AID'S, suicide, cultural traditions, fidelity in fact the story kind of got bogged down by the serious elements.
The scene where Paw is translated from this world to the arms of his beloved is one of the most beautiful passages I've ever read. This followed by Javier relating how he survived an encounter with a crazed fan. Absolutely hilarious.
Although I felt the story got a bit slow toward the end when editing could have been beneficial this was still an excellent series.
GRIT: the aftermath of grinding brings about backbone and perseverance. Used as a verb it creates an action resulting in keeping it all together when faced with adversity or an unpleasant duty.
Thus, Tiana has produced her Finale of The Silver Nitrate series by the genius move of creating a cohesive unit of Grind of Grit by commingling the two storylines. But, alas just as in the world of the living, all affiliations or joining of forces does not always result in a harmonious whole. As in the Beginning with Mother Eve, there are forces of jealousy, snakes in the garden and of course the crab in the barrel mentality at work. Forces whose sole purpose is to create havoc and disunity of wholeness.
At the end of Grind, we left off with Zenith preparing the preparatory vocal groundwork which would result into his tearing down the walls of his internal "craziness" which literally created emotional devastation and turmoil within his spiritual temple. Within the storyline of Grind there is a feeling out period of the protagonists, Silver and Zenith; a courting period, if you will. They are being guided into the knowledge of one another by the emotions generated by their pursuit of their mutual desires; the capture and retention of each other's beating hearts. Some joinings may have to go through some things until the ingredients are combined to bring forth that taste that soothes and satisfies the palette. Which will it be in this continuing storyline for Silver and Zenith? Will their love flourish or will disruptive forces stagnate their romantic progress? Or will the sabotage come from within - from our hero, Zenith or our heroine, Silver. Will their love survive the entrance of this new trauma?
Zenith has confronted his demons by confessing the unspoken of secret he has carried silently for years - the painful confession that led to the untimely death of his parents. A poison that had laid closeted and dormant so long that the volatile spewing of its abominable taste lay stagnant on the tongue of its resurrection! But this stench does not claim a victim, but rather produces a survivor. The confession brings freedom. Freedom from past demons. But as life often is, some freedoms bring about future emotional prisons. Silver's prison door was opened by her receiving the achievement of a goal long hoped for; to bring life to her dream of creating her own video game - her REJUVINATION. Zenith's prison door clanged loudly in its closing; the death knell tolled in all its darkness via his having to decline the achievement of a lifetime in his musical career; playing drums in a well established and famous band - his DETERIORATION?
A DILEMNA creating pain - in separate temples - but connected via love.
Tiana Laveen is a reader's supreme dream. She not only gives us a riveting plot but withthin her spectacular plots there is always a steel like thread which weaves itself stealthily throughout her storylines. It is not a thread that meanders aimlessly. This thread begins with a problem but life like solutions to these problems are securely wound within its core. If you are open to receive the message Tiana makes it easy to discern. In the case of Grind and then Grit, along with Silver and Zenith, I learned that a sacrificial love based on the welfare of the entire village, rather than for the success of a singular individual, will be rewarded with immeasurable bounty. I was once again reminded that all things that start bad do not have to end up that way. Good can come out the ashes of despair if trust and belief are rooted at its foundation. Therein lies the solid and hardcore truth encompassing the journey of love taken by Silver Renaissance Faye and Zenith Hiawatha Taylor. That is my truth, and I know that many diverse truths will be obtained and meditated upon by numerous and diverse minded readers.
Through the emotionally cleansing confessions, anger, great pain, laughter, jubilation and sadness, burst forth a love meant to withstand the test of time, life, failures and triumphs. There, on the other side of all of this, the HEA of our beloved Silver and Zenith emerged. A love borne out of mutual grievances against life and it's many hills and valleys was welded together for strength and endurance. The knowledge that perfection is not in our DNA emboldens us to submit to the authority here knowing that the Creator is the ultimate authority by which we live our lives to the best of our diverse abilities. I both loved and enjoyed this soulful offering of Tiana Laveen. I cannot help but believe that the love she encapsulated within this storyline is a very real part of her nature and that she imparts a little bit of herself through every written word. Love is woven all though this story because it is an important fabric of her existence. You, Ms. Laveen, have once again proved yourself to be a strength without measure, in any genre you choose to bring forth, via the mighty stroke of your pen. Thank you for giving us Zenith and Silver's story. Until the next time, I remain your faithful fan.
One last thing before I conclude my takeaway from this read. Tiana Laveen is the TRUTH! Her writing cannot be measured against mere mortals. Her writing is on a stratospheric level, which takes a whole lot of living and loving to reach; and even with all that living and loving the attainment is unable to be delivered and shared in the manner this woman delivers and shares. It is truly a God given talent. I am honored to be a part of her writing journey. Also, many accolades on your beautiful self art work featuring the Zenith, Silver, Paw and baby Greyson. Along with the beautiful poem, your talent is unlimited. You have proven that you are a jack of all trades and master of them all. I can only pray that my review will prompt others to join us on this journey you have lovingly undertaken.

Take some time out and get to know Zenith and Silver. I promise it will be worth it. Silver Nitrate is a series (Includes Books Grind and Grit) that explores Love's triumph over grief.
Zenith and Silver have a lot going on in their lives and are carrying heavy burdens from the past. When they meet, it is anything but ideal. What is meant to be, will find a way. This story isn't a race to arrive at some picturesque happily ever after.
It's a slow dance, with all the right beats. In a genre where everything is rushed, Tiana Laveen slowed down the beat so you hear all the words and feel the rhythm all the way from you toes to top of your head. You aren't being told Zenith and Silver are learning about each other you are seeing it unfold. These books are about the reality and simplicity of falling in love with someone. Love isn't always opposites attracting, like minded/like feeling people are drawn to each other too. This is often more complicated, it's easy to accept the parts you love about yourself in others but it can turn you upside down/inside out when you see the parts of yourself you can't stand in others. The journey of Zenith and Silver is about being there for each other no matter what life throughs at you. Oh, and so very much is thrown at them, they shoulder through it by knowing when to stand up for each other and when to stand up to each other. It's sweet, funny, sad and ever so hopeful.
