Wow! I loved, loved, loved Guarding Gwen! I adore romantic suspense and one of my top five authors in the genre is Cynthia Eden. I own almost every book she's ever published, and she still manages to lead me on a merry chase - every single time! I've been a fan for 10 years, and I may have correctly guessed the identity of the killer twice - maybe. Apparently, I'm just not criminal mastermind material! Thank heavens! lol... However, I do enjoy reading about them and no one weaves a wicked web of suspense, intrigue, and romance quite like Cynthia Eden, and Protecting Piper, the second release in her exciting new Wilde Ways Series, is another example of Eden at her best. There's so much I enjoyed about this book. It's well crafted, as always, with a perfectly paced and beautifully written third person narrative. The dialogue is smart, snappy, and flows effortlessly. The entire story arc is masterfully executed with a compellingly intricate conflict that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and a plethora of unexpected plot twists you'll never see coming. But without a doubt, my favorite component of every Eden story is her large cast of complex and engaging characters.
I was immediately smitten with the two protagonists, Simon Forrest and Gwen Solomon. Simon was handsome, smart, and successful. He'd come a long way since his days of having nothing to offer anyone. He'd been nineteen, determined to save the world and make something of himself. And he had. He was now vice president of Wilde Securities in Atlanta and pretty much had everything a man could want - except the girl of his dreams, the only woman he'd ever loved. Unfortunately, he'd lost the girl. He'd walked away, without a backward glance, and became a Navy Seal. But that girl - beautiful Gwenevere Soloman - she was now America's sweetheart, the 'Hollywood It Girl', fans falling at her feet, men vying for attention, her image plastered across every magazine and movie screen in the world. Yup, he'd really messed up when he walked away from Gwen. He didn't realize how much she'd meant to him until it was too late. But beautiful Gwen Solomon wasn't currently in Hollywood, she was in Atlanta - in the offices of Wilde Securities requesting his services. Gwen was in big trouble. Someone was stalking her, blackmailing her, playing dirty with secrets from her past, and she desperately needed Simon's help. After all, Wilde Securities was supposed to be the best in the business. It had nothing to do with Gwen wanting to see Simon again or that she'd never stopped loving him, right? Oh so wrong! It had everything to do with him, their shared past, and her dark, long thought to be buried secrets. Simon finally had a second chance to win back the only woman he's ever loved, but he'll have to save her first. But someone is determined for her to die. Oh my, here we go again! And if you read the first book and thought Eric Wilde was gruff, growly, sexy, and all alpha, you ain't seen nothing yet! Simon Forrest is the man! I loved Simon! It was so much fun watching Simon and Gwen try to deny their true feelings for each other, but the heart wants what the heart wants and these two lost souls wanted each other! Their chemistry was off the charts hot! Sigh... So dreamy!
So, did I like this book? No, I loved it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers. It does contain graphic violence, profanity, and explicit sex. If you enjoy dark, intense, edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense, then this is the book for you. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book. I can hardly wait for the release of the third book of the Wilde Ways Series, Before Ben, which is scheduled for release on April 30, 2019! I've always claimed that Eden's Lost Series was my favorite romantic suspense series of all time, but Wilde Ways just knocked it out of first place! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my seat, white-knuckling my e-reader, my heart beating wildly in my chest, the pages flying as I made a mad dash for the end to discover the identity of the villain - or villains! Nuh-uh, no spoilers from me! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

The spotlights are shining brightly on this thrilling second chance romance as Simon and Gwen struggle with their past while trying to unmask Gwen’s stalker. The hero and the heroine of this story are strong, vibrant and easily steal the show as readers become enthralled by their rocky relationship that burns hot enough to singe readers. Simon and Gwen have an undeniable chemistry but due to some past events this romance is in no way a sure thing which keeps emotions high throughout and readers experience the whole gauntlet from heated passion, to hurt filled rage to tentative hope and of course they also experience the terror of not knowing who to trust.This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge with some hair raising suspense and adrenaline pumping action. The suspense builds throughout the story as the stalker grows more bold and unstable and surprising twists ensure that have no clue who the culprit is until the very end. The story is also packed full of entertaining events that stem from Gwen and Simon’s relationship and a couple of explosions, betrayals, secrets and revelations ramp up the excitement even more throughout this page turning romantic suspense.
