Blog post(This update is pretty damned late in coming, but I couldn’t bring myself to write about this until tonight.)
If you read the It’s Hard to Say Goodbye post, you’ll know that my dog, Derek, was diagnosed with lymphoma. Unfortunately, Derek lost his battle with lymphoma and passed away on January 20th, 2022. As I said in that post, the moment Mrs. Gravy and I realized Derek’s quality of life wasn’t good for him, we made the soul-crushing decision to end his suffering.

Blog postBefore I start this new post, I’ll quickly update the last post about Derek.
He started chemo on Thursday, and he’ll be getting it for the next 19 weeks. The oncologist believes that the lymphoma will be treatable/manageable, so hopefully, if all goes well, we’ll have our puppy around for a bit longer. As I said in the last post, he’s an old man and could pass any day now from old age alone. However, we treat him better than we treat ourselves. Blog postHello everyone! It has certainly been a while since I’ve last posted about my personal life. What better time than now to let everyone know what’s going on in the life of the former H.G. Gravy?
If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll be aware of the situation going on right now, but this post will include some more details that would take too long to type out on Twitter.
If you don’t follow me on Twitter, I suggest doing it because I’m the coolest person ever in the hi8 months ago Read more -
Blog postIn this final post of the Arguing with Myself series, I’m going to list one last reason why authors SHOULD post their stories to Reddit’s /r/NoSleep and /r/ShortScaryStories communities. Afterward, I’m going to conclude with the reasons authors SHOULDN’T. Perhaps, I’ll even make a decision on whether or not I’ll return to posting stories online. So let’s get started!
Final Argument in Favor of Posting to Reddit – Small Possibility of Success

Blog postIn Part 3 of the Arguing with Myself series, I’ve come back to the opposing side of the argument with another two reasons why authors should not post their work to /r/NoSleep, /r/ShortScaryStories, or elsewhere online. Or at least, authors should be more cautious and aware of the ramifications of doing so.
Argument #1
As per Reddit’s user agreement, any content posted to their website GRANTS THE LICENSE to use YOUR WORK for WHATEVER REDDIT WANTS.

Blog postHowdy folks, I’m not Buck Hensley, and these are not “The Rules of Road.” However, this is undoubtedly a review for the gleefully fun and horrifying, The Rules of the Road by C.B. Jones. If I could broadcast this review into the airwaves, I certainly would.
This collection/anthology of tales centers around a mysterious radio broadcast from the aforementioned Buck Hensley. Although, it doesn’t always have to be a radio broadcast. It can be through a CD player, a cell phone, or whatever10 months ago Read more -
Blog postSuppose you’ve read my previous post: Paradigm Shift, or Why I’m Not Posting Stories to Reddit Anymore. In that case, you’ll understand my reasons for not wanting to continue posting my work online. However, I recently started a new video series on my YouTube Channel called Arguing with Myself.
In my first topic, I read from the previously mentioned post and discussed my reason for quitting Reddit. As I did the video, I found myself stuttering a bunch and thinking about cou10 months ago Read more -
Blog postOver the past few weeks, I’ve made the transition to using my real name in my (small and budding) writing career. This isn’t a decision I made lightly. It is something that could confuse readers who’ve followed me in this adventure thus far. It will also raise questions from future readers interested in my past work to learn about the H.G. Gravy pen name.

Excerpt:
What it really meant was she was rotting away in a cage of her own flesh. The weight of her own body had crushed the flesh on her backside so that it had stopped circulating blood, had started to die. It meant that, after only twenty-six days of freedom, I had to go home and take care of her again. I came back to a familiar smell of piss and sweat and mold; but that was all mixed with a new taint, the sour and yet sickeningly-sweet smell of rotting flesh. She wasn’t in her usual chair. Instead, I found her collapsed on a mattress in a bedroom she hadn’t used for as long as I could remember, the springs creaking under her weight. She was dressed in a simple blue shirt, almost like a hospital gown, and lifting up the bottom edge, my eyes came level to where she was rotting.

By the thirteenth day of Christmas, it was too late to go back.
Or was it?
