Hard to find locally; worked great immediately

No instructions on putting in the printer, though I figured it out. Take out the old one by pressing it into the slot & then releasing and it comes loose. Install the new one by pressing it into the slot. Avoid trying to put it in backwards or upside down. On my printer, for each cartridge put in, the printer reassesses ink status for the printer. Be systematic but patient. Courts have said HP can restrict generic cartridges which prompted me to buy genuine HP ones. I also avoided large size for the colors because I doubted they would fit.

Just purchased my 5th HP Printer (8720 Pro); had to purchase ink immediately as the ones sent with the printer gave out immediately. I ordered the HP 952 combo pack of the three colors. Got a discount, but also got less ink. The cyan and magenta did not show being full when the printer showed the installation. I attached the copy but may be too small to see. I am so disgusted with HP, I should have went ahead & bought the Brother however several reviews said the photo quality was poor. Hope this helps some other poor soul.

I opened these up two days ago to replace the knock-off version of printer cartridges that I tried to get to save some money (they leaked all over the place). The first problem is that new HP printers will tell you when you don't use their name-brand ink cartridges, so there's a slight decrease in performance just based on their software tracking that you're trying to find something cheaper. The second problem is that these cartridges are nearly $50 a piece...which is absolutely absurd for single cartridges (as of the writing of this, Nov 9th, 2020). The final problem is that while you're taking out a small loan to buy printer ink, these are not individually wrapped inside the box they come in, so they were already partially dried when I put them in. I had to run the printer's ink head cleaning function 18 times (3 separate modes x 6 iterations), which of course said they were nearly out of ink by the time it was done. It still doesn't print perfectly, has a line through one of the black printing sections, and is misaligned because of the drying. I won't ever use HP again for their printers, no matter what deal is going on during the time. When you mix all this with the fact that their new service that delivers their own ink on-demand from sensors in the wifi-connected printer at enormously overpriced rates and at a frequency that is not reliable or far too often, HP is done in my eyes.

I got this combo pack direct from Amazon for my HP 8740 printer. This is the first time I have had to replace the original cartridges that came with the printer, which usually are not full cartridges. I didn’t even print in color very much and the three colors all ended up being empty at the same time. This is not my first HP printer, having used a 2710 for many years, but this is the first printer I have used that separated the colors into individual cartridges. The 2710 used one color combo cartridge and a black ink cartridge. With that being said, one of my gripes is that these ink cartridges tend to be expensive, no matter bought in a combo pack or individually. In addition, one of the things with HP printers is that they tend to lock down their printers with ink cartridges that have a chip that basically forces you to use only their cartridges. It is very difficult to get third party inks to work with HP printers, the 8740 especially so. Keep that in mind when shopping for ink as off brand inks may or may not work and may mess up the printer.

I am hoping that these color ink last longer than the original cartridges. Color ink tends to not last as long, especially if you print photos or don’t use grayscale. To make it last longer, I usually select black/grayscale for most printing jobs.

When buying ink cartridges, especially with HP, make sure you get OEM and new products and not the outdated and remanufactured type. The cartridges should be in a box like the one shown, have an expiration date on both the box and the cartridges. It appears that HP is no longer sealing the cartridges in foil as mine just came in a Hp box. The boxes should have printed on them the cartridge type, color and place of manufacturer. If they come in a soiled box or one that looks like it had a hard life, comes in a plastic bag or in any other box other than HP boxes then these are likely either counterfeit or used/remanufactured/refurbished or expired cartridges. If they don't come in the original packaging either inside or out, then I would also be wary of the cartridges. And most importantly if they don't have an expiration date, you can't read the expiration date or the date is expired or close to expiring when you get them, I would return them as these are likely not new.

With any ink cartridges it is important to check the expiration date to make sure these are fresh and recently manufactured. I bought mine direct from Amazon and not a third-party seller and my combo pack had the date (April 2021) both on the HP box and on the cartridges. The printer recognized them as genuine and print just fine with no issues.

I am not so worried about this when I buy direct from Amazon but it is important to check to make sure the cartridges are real especially if you are purchasing from third party sellers. In addition to your printer validating them, along with the information above, there is also a QR code that you can scan on the cartridge as well to check to make sure this is a valid HP cartridge. If those things are lacking or the QR code is invalid, then the cartridges are not HP ink cartridges.

My biggest complaint with the HP print cartridges is the cost. I think these combo packs and the HP cartridges in general are overpriced and HP restricts you from other brands, but they do work reliably without any issues with good quality ink.

Update Jan 2021: I originally purchased these and gave them 4 stars, but as others have said, these don't last. I was shocked as I bought these direct from AMZ. I rarely print in color and these may have printed 3 to 5 pages total in color before running out of cyan ink. No wonder there is a CA suit against HP and their ink.

I bought this ink for my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. After inserting the ink in my printer, it stated that it's incompatible and isn't printing. It clearly states on the box that this ink is compatible with my printer, so I don't understand why it is reading as incompatible. Can someone please assist me with this issue.

Beware! I suspect some of the vendors may be selling counterfeit cartridges.

I replaced all three cartridges in my printer and got a warning message saying "Previously Used Geniune HP Cartridges Installed". The printer then indicated that the cartridge was depleted and needed to be replaced.

I really, really wanted to love this product despite the fact that I'm not a huge inkjet fan. But the HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 came w/the cartridges and boasted of how many pages these little things could produce. I print mostly in black & white, so I am extremely puzzled as to why the color cartridges ran out FIRST and definitely long before I could have possibly printed 700 pages between Feb 2019 and June 4, 2019!!!! IMPOSSIBLE. And there's no way for me to inspect the cartridges to verify that they are indeed empty. This is very frustrating because these cartridges are expensive and I trusted that HP would be a brand I could depend on. It's awful because now I'm stuck w/a semi-slow printing/scanning printer (Costco purchase), which I can get over, AND ink that doesn't do the job it claims right on the HP website. I've purchased another set as a back up and I've written down the date I installed them, so I'll give them one more chance and update this review IF they work better this time. However, I'm tempted to try off-brand cartridges to see how many pages they produce, but I hesitate because I haven't done enough research to have that confidence.

Good, but a defective cartridge

I bought this multi pack of ink for my new machine and all cartridges were fine until I got to the YELLOW. My printer says that it is not working properly and it is brand new. I've tried all of the trouble shooting tips and the machine will not accept it. I am going to try to get this replaced, but I am not seeing where there is an option from the seller to do so.
