Perron Manor—a place evil calls home
Sisters Sarah and Chloe inherit a house they could never have previously dreamed of owning. It seems too good to be true.
Shortly after they move in, however, the siblings start to notice strange things: horrible smells, sudden drops in temperature, as well as unexplainable sounds and feelings of being watched.
All of that is compounded when they find a study upstairs, filled with occult items and a strange book written in Latin.
Their experiences grow more frequent and more terrifying, building towards a heart-stopping climax where the sisters come face to face with the evil behind Perron Manor. Will they survive and save their very souls?

About the author

Lee Mountford is a horror author from the North-East of England. His first book, Horror in the Woods, was published in May 2017 to fantastic reviews, and his follow-up book, The Demonic, achieved Best Seller status in both Occult Horror and British Horror categories on Amazon.
He is a lifelong horror fan, much to the dismay of his amazing wife, Michelle, and his work is available in ebook, print and audiobook formats.
In August 2017 he and his wife welcomed their first daughter, Ella, into the world. In May 2019, their second daughter, Sophie, came along. Michelle is hoping the girls don’t inherit their father’s love of horror, but Lee has other ideas…

When we begin, Chloe and her younger sister Sarah, have inherited the Manor from their reclusive Uncle Vincent. The last tragedy recorded there was when Chloe was only six years old, and was staying there as her parents helped her Uncle and his partner, Marcus.
". . . the past couldn't hurt them."
Chloe's family were the only survivors.
Having no recollection of anything during that time, Chloe doesn't hesitate to urge her husband to move there, along with their young child, and co-heir sister.
". . . Back to Devil's House . . . "
I will admit, I felt the "connection" between the characters was forced somehow, and many of their conversations/actions just didn't feel . . . authentic. . . to me.
However, while I had a difficult time with these characters and their motivations, the atmosphere and history of the Manor captured my undivided attention. The scenes that dealt with the house itself and its sordid history were mesmerizing, to say the least, and some of the minor characters brought more interest and mystery to it.
"This house is special. It is, I believe, alive."
By the end of the novel, the characters were starting to grow on me, and some scenes with them were more "believable" than they were in the first three-quarters or so.
". . . Once you saw what was behind the veil, how could you ever unsee it? . . . "
Overall, while the characters didn't do much for me in the beginning, the Manor itself certainly did! The ending scenes made quite an impression on me, and I've already preordered the next installment.
Recommended.
these days I'm too busy to sit and read, so audio books give me a chance to still enjoy books while I multitask. sadly, I'll have to pass on the rest of this series until I get reading time, because they've used the same narrator for all Mountford's books, and I can't stand this guy.

Sisters, Chloe & Sarah inherit Perron Manor from their late estranged uncle; a stately home saturated in horrific history (read Inside: Perron Manor). To begin with, a bump in the night here and a phantom knock at the door there are easily dismissed, but Lee has a talent for simmering the pot, steadily bringing it to the boil with a heinous finale.

Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

It is extremely creepy, terrifying in many parts and a very good story, I couldn't put it down and thoroughly recommend it to any fan of this genre. I've subsequently downloaded all books in the Haunted series. Lee Mountford is my new go to Author and I can't wait to read the rest of his collection.
