I loved getting better acquainted with the Highlanders. They are a loving loyal family who don't hesitate running after adventures. I especially enjoyed going along with Brenna's medical discoveries. She was truly a brilliant healer for her time. She was observant and kind and very caring of her patients. She knew a lot and learned more on a daily basis. Because of people like her modern medicine evolved at an amazing pace. Keeping the records and using the lore helped her save many people in her day. I could have stood a bit less of the physical description of the passionate love making. I don't think it added anything to a very good story, but if that was the only way Keira felt she could get the full story across, I guess I can just slide through those sections and other readers may enjoy them. I am not a prude, I just like some things and not others! Other than that, I give this book 5 stars!

I bought this book back in 2015 but am just now getting around to writing my review!I know what you are thinking,why even bother now?Well I have read this book for the 3rd time since I bought it and I always come back to this "feel good" story.Maybe it is because I have 2 relatives who suffer from celiacs disease and they weren't diagnosed right away,maybe it is just a good story.I often recommend this book in the series to friends or anyone who is asking my opinion about something to read.Clearly it is not Outlander,but not every book needs to be either.So,that being said,I would say to potential readers,this is a good story that will leave you feeling happy for the characters at the end and a craving for the next book in the series.

Along the way Quade becomes ill and is gored by a boar so his brother kidnaps Brenna to save Quade first before returning to clan Ramsay. His is where their story begins. Great characters, great story.

Not a romance "novel" so much as simply a romantic story, and very romantic indeed. This author has a while to go until her writing matures, but the characters were lovely and terribly sweet, well so sweet at times it bordered on slice of corny with a good slap of cheesy on top. Had I been 20 years younger I would have probably given the book 5 stars. These day's I look for novels in the romance genre be they historical or fantasy, complicated characters with a bit of bite and leave you breathless from page 1 to infinity so to speak Le Veque is on of those authors and I find that authors of her caliber are few and far between. None the less, this a a good book to grab when you want a quick and easy read that leaves you feeling a bit full on the sweet and hopeful for the future of a very talented author who has it in her to become a Romance Novelist .

Brenna, a healer, is abducted to heal Quade, leader of another clan. There is chemistry from the beginning between these two. As the story progresses, the author weaves the back story dealing with sickness and death in his family. Jealousy and treachery poke their heads in as their relationship develops. So many feelings, so like life in general regardless of time frame or age of characters. Paced excellently. Medical issues were handled well, I thought, but I wondered if the word "trigger" might have been more contemporary. I truly appreciated the author's addendum at the end explaining her research into the various medical situations. I have to say that every time I read a story from earlier eras, I appreciate our medical advances, our technology, electricity, etc. Those societies would think they had gone to heaven had they had our diapers, etc. On the other hand they would be scandalized by our ways of dress! Read this book! This author is really solid and I enjoy her work.

I was holding my breath with the first chapter of this book, a kidnapping was taking place of a very important member of Clan Grant.... not only a sister but the clans most gifted Healer. This story will tear at your heart but will sore with excitement. You will fall in love with Brenna Grant and Quade Ramsay although you will at times think Quade is your typical dumb male for believing that he's cursed, but back in those times superstitions were running high with sometimes healers are referred to as witches instead of just excepting their gift and knowledge to help the sick. Lily and Torrian will pull at your heart with a firm grip, I just wanted to reach into this book and hug them both.... There is so much more to tell but you would probably rather read this great book instead of read about my rambling, but trust me, this book has everything you need to send your emotions on a great ride through the Highland magic.
