Fun, nostalgic movie.

Watched this the other day with my mom. We watched it way back and laughed at how horrible we'd be in this situation. Was a good time and very nostalgia. Super cheesy movie but done in a really fun way. Plus, who doesn't love Ripley??

One of the most fun con movies ever made.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is simply beautiful.

Sigourney Weaver still has it and is one of the greatest actresses of our times. Punch lines delivered perfectly, this is also a grea plot and script very well executed.

Ray Liotta was compelling too, and brought some definite extra zest to the plot line.

Oh yeah, and Jennifer Love Hewitt drives the same car I do.

Interesting Premise, Uncomfortable Execution
Verified purchase
Very surprised the reviews for this film average above 2 stars. I don't usually have much against a corny movie, but the acting and writing in this one was uncomfortably bad. While the major premise was interesting enough, the only marginally believable/engaging principle relationship was that between Ms. Weaver and Ms. Love-Hewitt's characters. The primary love story was less believable than that of the majority of rom-coms, forcing a likeable and intelligent romantic lead to fall immediately and irrevocably for a very young woman who acts only with unfounded belligerence and concerning awkwardness in his presence. There was no chemistry between the secondary romantic pairing, either, but at least that one was ever so slightly more fathomable. Ms. Weaver and Mr. Lee (Jack) seem to have made the best they could of a bad script, but it still wasn't good enough.

Could have been a good movie

I like this movie only because Sigourney weaver is in it. This movie is 100% fictional and unbelievable. Funny in parts and entertaining enough. I liked the story of the mother and daughter but the main storyline and romantic love interest totally ruined the film. The girl is manipulative, a liar and just a gold digger and somehow a random dude falls for it and forgives her for playing him, completely unrealistic that he’d stay. I wish Hollywood didn’t glamorize and make everything a super happy ending. The main characters didn’t get what they deserved, no consequences. This would maybe have been a good drama if they had made it more realistic. It’s supposed to be a lame romantic comedy I suppose. Could be better if rewritten.

Great movie; mediocre product (blu-ray)

The movie itself is visually clear and audibly fine, however, there are NO subtitles in any language, and the audio for the bonus features is way too quiet (esp. in light of no subtitles) and a bit inconsistently so. If you want to see a great movie with strong comedic performances by traditionally dramatic actors, by all means, this is that, however, don't buy this to be blown away by the feature set. In my opinion, fairly inexcusable to release it like this (not that I know the process of providing subtitles to commercially released movies, but I do know audio manipulation and there are myriad methods for normalizing audio).

This isn't the Sigourney Weaver you saw take out Aliens... I mean, it's her, but she seems to have a new rack. XD
Tits aside, I love this movie - hilarious, with Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt expertly playing a con artist mother and daughter pair. You'll get plenty of laughs out of it.

You say you need a laugh????? This is your flick!

This film is simply funny from beginning to end! Sure it's silly and a bit corny in some scenes, but when that's what you're looking for....this is a great choice. Great scenes by Sigourney Weaver & Jennifer Love Hewitt, but it's Gene Hackman stealing the show with his hilarious adaptation of the crotchety, old billionaire. I love this movie!

Ray Liotta at his comic, mafia tough best ! Hot women, good story, and actors over the age of 25. This is a very good flick, and is a feel-good one at that ! Much better than the B movies today.
