Great Soy Wax - Little Information About the Product
Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2018
I would like to give this product 5 stars...the wax itself actually worked very well for making soy candles. I'm a newbie to making candles. The reason I only gave 3 stars is that despite the emails asking if I got the product or not, I was unable to get any replies from Hearts and Crafts in regards to my inquiries as to the type of soy wax. (Was it Golden Foods 464, 444, Ecosoya, other make...??). I tried through both Amazon's email system and through the Hearts and Crafts website email (firstname.lastname@example.org left me with a delivery error on gmail...).
One issue I had was in regards to my candles sweating. I recognize this is not due to the soy wax and more due to me adding too much fragrance oil to the wax, hence I needed to experiment. I found a little less that 0.7 oz of fragrance per lb of melted wax was about right, any more than that and there was sweating issues. Typically they say 1 oz per lb of soy wax is a start, that was too much for this soy wax.
That being said, some feedback would have been helpful. Most soy waxes have some kind of spec sheet for fragrance load or a max percentage of oil that can be combined with melted wax. Yes, I'm sweating the small stuff (no pun intended), though knowing the type of wax would have cut down on some of the sweating issues when making my candles.
