Valerie's goal in writing is to bring people closer to Jesus one chapter at a time.

Valerie has been writing stories since she was in second grade when she wrote "The Mystery of the Missing Crayon." She gave up writing mysteries soon after and now concentrates on real-life stories that tackle tough issues such as homelessness, unplanned pregnancy, family tragedy, childhood trauma, foster care, poverty, and terminal cancer. All of her books are filled with the hope and love of Christ and are uplifting and feel-good with happy, though sometimes tearful, endings as her characters overcome their obstacles with God at their side. She also writes biblical non-fiction, indie author non-fiction, children's books, allegorical fiction, and small church Christmas plays. (She's a little obsessed with writing.)

Valerie is a fan of summer, warmth, and flip-flips, so she often wonders why she lives in Maine where she is frozen for the better half of the year. But her amazing husband and adorable sons live there with her, so it's not all bad. She graduated from Bible College with a degree in Bible and Missions a long, long time ago in a state far, far away.

I expected a bit more than from this flimsy, little book. It has 66 pages with very basic adjectives. You can just Google or use Grammerly and get more usage. I wished I'd used this 5 bucks on Starbucks. 🤨

Level words. Not thorough enough for the adult writer. For example, under thirsty is lists only “dehydrated” and “parched.” Really? Don’t waste your money.

This is a thin book of 70 pages total, of which about 63-64 are actual words. And yes, you can find the words in the thesaurus portion of your dictionary app. However, what I find the most useful is that the words are alphabetized by categories such as Color or Personality Traits, or Texture. The categories are listed in the table of contents. The categories are then further broken down into subsets such as gray or metallic, or brave or indecisive, or bubbly or rough - with a list for each subset. While I might have thought of several of the words in the subsets, this gives me more ideas without having to wrack my brain or hop from one word to another on my dictionary app. There are two pages to add your own words/categories if you wish. Plus, I much prefer paper books over electronic. The reason for only four stars instead of five is because I believe, and wish, more than 27 categories had been included.

In my humble opinion, this book could be quite helpful in writing elementary level stories, etc. It wasn't what I was expecting. I was anticipating something that would provide more than what this little book does.

As I said, for elementary level writing, this book might be quite useful; however, it just doesn't do anything for me, as a casual writer of more sophisticated prose.

Had I read the existing reviews of this book, I would have chosen something more suitable for my particular needs.

It does include a petite collection of elementary descriptive words that some may enjoy perusing and ultimately using in their project(s).

Again, I'm disappointed with a book by this author. This "book" doesn't shed any light on how the words could be used. Anyone can google synonyms and write them down. I seriously regret buying these books. Waste of time and money.
