Her Commanders Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Cali has spent her entire existence hiding everything she truly is from everyone...including her family. Love isn't something she believes in. She's seen the harm that so-called emotion can cause in her own parents' relationship and wants no part of it.
Star Base Commander Jamis Dexxirs and his Sub Commander Taarig Ynn are well known for their attitudes toward females and their sexual preferences. They are Apre, one of the most powerful, long-living beings in the universe, so why settle for one female when there are so many to choose from?

The commanders are a long lived species that are very sexually active, they claim that that carefully pick their partners but I saw no evidence of that. C1 saw her & was attracted but immediately forgot her & started flirting another female that came onto him. An accident happened & they were trapped together & he acted very insufferable. C2 was a bit better, when he was attracted he pursued her as soon as he could. They all an encounter where the C1&C2 felt extreme emotions toward her & that scared C1 so he immediately backed off & C2 followed his lead. This is where it really ticked me off because C1 went & picked a female & took her to their room & C2 went along even though he felt they were doing wrong. They didn’t go through but only because certain events prevented them but they later claimed even if those events hadn’t happened they couldn’t completely betray her. I call hogwash, C1 didn’t seem willing to stop & completely determined to go through with it. So I didn’t like their attitude & betrayal. It was palatable because they recognized they were betrayed her & apologized for it. I did like her, she was a strong female that always pushed back when they got overbearing & was no innocent little thing (I liked that she lived her life before she met them, cause they certainly overdid theirs).
This one is not even close and for that reason it greatly disappoints. It is more in the line of her “Kiss” series which you wonder how they could even be written by the same person. Ok so now the specifics of why I did or did not like this particular book
—-author is a good story teller with surprises and action She creates supporting characters you like The book is not boring
—strong, smart and caring lead heroine. This is a hallmark in all of her books
—-interesting world building although she does much less of it in this book then the others I love
—-I almost think the author must be going through a life crisis where she is really angry or disgusted with the male sex. The males she creates as hero’s were jerks and never really did anything heroic or even selfless caring throughout the book. The heroine fell for them because of physical attraction and good sex. There was nothing that should “trigger anyone by their actions but who would want them but someone superficial which the heroine was not supposed to be. In fact the entire set up was for her to be judged by how she acted and not who or what she was. It is ironic that she instead she was attracted to these heros for very superficial reasons. This is so diametrically different then how the hero was in the three series I mentioned above that it stuns me.
—- sex was a very very casual thing for everyone and almost meant nothing yet at the same time it was the single reason why the hero and heroine fell for each other. Maybe that is what it is like in this world but it is not really what I like to read about in the romance books
—-I did not see one heroic act out of the hero’s. Maybe you could call one of the scenes at the beginning and maybe at the very end sort of heroic but it is a stretch too far for me. It was more like the minimum duty they had then any heroic act. It is hard to be excited about a book who portrays men as hero’s without showing one example of it. They, who were supposed to be the best military commanders in the universe were completely incompetent on figuring out certain things Again what in the world was in the authors mind when she created these two. And it was not just these two males that were shown as lacking.
I only hope and pray this author reverts away from these books and back to her three series above.

PS. Where is Amina’s and Barek’s story?!!
One of the other passengers is Starbase Commander Jamis Drexxirs, an Apre male. After the starship is damaged and other passengers take to the life pods leaving Cali and an unconscious Jamis. Cali is able to get them both into the small pod meant for the pilot and launch before blacking out.
Once rescued and back home, there are a few problems to overcome. Appearing to be a frailer being than she actually is. Cali meets the Base Commander again when reporting a crime.
With jealousy, revenge and petty spite, along with many secrets, the tension builds. Add a little light fingered sleight of hand, with a touch of payback for a rousing read. Just wondering what next?
