I immediately loved the theme of Doctors Without Borders, but this one is with the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors. It takes a special kind of person to travel all the way around the world to a war-torn country like Africa, to give aid to those that are poor, wounded and in great need of all the basic necessities of life.
Carys is a woman who has the heart of a lion and the soul of an angel and puts her patients first. Her strength of character is remarkable and her heart is full of love and compassion for those who need her special skills.
I love how Cullen and his teammates from Night Storm, face the adversity of the evil and dangerous people creating the angry mob in Khartoum. Cullen finds Carys and his immediate respect for her selfless care of Shada and her young children, combine with his instant attraction to her as a loving woman.
This story has all the feels. There is so much evil and horror in this kind of situation that is a part of every day life for these poor people, but this story also has an underlying thread of tasteful humor, affection and kindness. I loved the “bile flavored saliva” description! I also love the fact that Carys loves Pineapple Fanta! It was endearing to me how capable Cullen was with newborn baby Adam. So many intricate details that give this story its heart.
I would have been thrilled if this story would have gone on a little further to have a wedding and maybe a baby on the way! Love this series!
The bits of humor, snark and comradery between the characters would just pop up and I would find myself snort laughing anytime, anywhere.
Cullen was to die for, so strong, and Carys was just as strong and capable when she needed to be. Sometimes you meet your limits, you have to make a decision to move forward or fall back, and there are some pretty intense situations throughout. My heart was totally involved!
The true romancing, when they finally get time for themselves, is worth the wait and gave me that deep, sighworthy HEA, that I need.
A stand alone for sure, but there are some much loved, returning characters I was truly happy see again! Total goodness right here
Cullen is tasked to rescue Carys and get her to safety. Not knowing the mess his walking into will take all his SEAL training. I loved that we got to see so many side to Cullen during this op. He was the hardened Seal but he was also a father figure to Adam and a partner to Carys.
I loved reading about Cullen and Adam. It was such a departure from any military book that I have read in a long time. You hear about him singing to Adam and changing his diaper and things like that. I really humanized Cullen and it made him the perfect book boyfriend.
This book was suspenseful from beginning to end. However, within this, there was warmth and heart. You could see the feeling developing between Cullen and Carys in their words and banter.
Cullen took one look at Carys and knew he had found the woman for him and he just needed to move slowly to get her to agree with him. The romance was sweet and he kept her spirits up and helped with the two patients too, especially little Adam. Her Tempting Protector is a lovely love story full of danger and the SEAL not only saves them all but he changes dippers too.

The story will keep you gripped, plenty of action, suspense and drama as well as lots of humour to accompany the almost gentle romance and the absolute heartbreaking tragedy of the events going on, all beautifully written. You will laugh, smile, cry and get angry.
This is a fantastic read that I would recommend to all. I loved Cullen, he sneaks his way into your heart & takes root - I mean gorgeous Seal & newborn baby, no one can resist that, certainly not me! Always great to meet up again with some of Caitlyn’s other wonderful Seal characters & their partners and as usual I can’t wait for the next book!
Received as an ARC & voluntarily reviewed, the opinions expressed are my own.
Beginning of book was very confusing. I think readers are expected to know things from previous books.
They were the most unimpressive SEALs I've read in stories. The doctor was a massive wimp as was Cullen for keep telling her how strong she was. Emergency caesarians, even in bush medicine, don't require rest for ages. Not would travelling on rough roads be an impediment. Safety and life more important.
Spoiler. How could Cullen carry food, medicine etc and cans of fuel over 5ks? Too bulky and heavy even for a SEAL. More improbabilities throughout book.
This book was entertaining, exciting and really well written. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
