"Moments of human intimacy jostle with scenes that inspire cosmic awe, and the broad diversity of Jeffers's candy-colored humans...underscores the twin messages that 'You're never alone on Earth' and that we're all in this together."--Publisher's Weekly (starred review)
"A true work of art."--BuzzFeed
Oliver Jeffers, arguably the most influential creator of picture books today, offers a rare personal look inside his own hopes and wishes for his child--and in doing so gifts children and parents everywhere with a gently sweet and humorous missive about our world and those who call it home.
Insightfully sweet, with a gentle humor and poignancy, here is Oliver Jeffers' user's guide to life on Earth. He created it specially for his son, yet with a universality that embraces all children and their parents. Be it a complex view of our planet's terrain (bumpy, sharp, wet), a deep look at our place in space (it’s big), or a guide to all of humanity (don’t be fooled, we are all people), Oliver's signature wit and humor combine with a value system of kindness and tolerance to create a must-have book for parents.

Here We Are is a beautiful, sensitive and fun book. Perfect as a gift for new parents and anyone who cares about the earth and it's inhabitants, especially in these uncertain times.
I will be purchasing some of these for gifts as well!
Looking forward to reading this one over and over again!!!

Note: This book is clearly intended to be read to new babies (one line says something like "you can't speak yet"), but my 3-year-old and 8-year-old love it anyway (and unfortunately, I did not know about it when they were babies, so it's not just nostalgia that's got them hooked).
I will say though my kids loved the pages with animals and sea animals, named everyone.
Lastly, there is a page that has all different types of people which is all good, but it does have two women in wedding dresses getting married. I am not one to judge but I don’t think things on sexuality and stuff like that belong in children’s books.
I am returning it.

Quite simply everyone young and old should have a copy of this book.

Having just read it for the first time it really has taken my breath away, just incredible illustrations and poignant words.
I cannot wait to get reading this with my daughters (aged 1 & 4), I think they will love it and I just know how much pleasure we’ll get from snuggling up at bedtime reading this book and talking about it together as they grow. I look forward to reading it with them as they get older too, seeing them understand different aspects of it a little more.
I can’t see this book spending long on our bookshelf at all.
I would highly recommend this book as a gift for any aged child or adult. I am planning on buying another copy as a new baby gift and writing a little message inside.

This book is beautiful.
This is not a story book.
This is a piece of art and a talking point.
I cannot recommend this enough.
There is so much to look at and talk about with your child.
Just buy it.
I’m in love with it.
