I really do not understand all of the great reviews of this book. I found the heroine very irritating. I also found both the hero and heroine highly irresponsible. They were on a mission to kill a true villain among whose crimes include murder, kidnapping and trafficking in women. They actually captured him but because her emotions got the better of her and she couldn't kill him the way she had fantasized, they released him to continue with his violent crimes. That is the dumbest most irresponsible thing I have ever read in a novel. Where I had already started finding her annoying, that supreme act of stupidity made me question HIM as well! I had loved Logan in the previous books. I have loved this whole series. However, I had to force myself to finish this book. Wouldn't even give this book one star if I had my way.

In Highland Sparks by Keira Montclair, a medieval romance story, we meet Gwyneth of the Cunninghams and Logan Ramsay. Logan is on a mission to retrieve two children from their evil father and take them the safety of his clan. In his travel, he runs into Gwyneth and is intrigued by her. She was then raised by her brothers and uncle. She became an accomplished hunter, tracker and archer. Raised as a tomboy, she is comfortable in leggings and tunics. Gwyneth witnessed the murder of her father and brother when she was young. She vows to track her father’s murderer and kill him. Logan is intrigued with Gwyneth and decides to help her with her quest. Will Gwyneth be successful? How can Logan help her? What will become of Logan and Gwyneth?
Ms. Montclair penned a fast-paced character-driven plot line focusing on Gwyneth’s quest for seeking justice. She also added a bit of mystery and suspense by introducing the concept of espionage for the Scottish Crown. I enjoyed the dialog especially the banter between Logan and Gwyneth. It added authenticity to this tale. I appreciated Ms. Montclair’s handling of the sexual content. It was respective and well-written.

I love KM's stories. I have been wanting to read this book for a while, and I was so happy when it went on sale. Gwyn and Logan are everything I pictured and more. They are so strong on their own, but together they are unstoppable. I love how Logan supports her and gives her the strength she needs, yet he still allows her the respect to do the things she needs to do for herself. Even when it goes against all his instincts, he assists her instead of taking over. Not that she is weak, because she isn't. She assists him as well. They are so well matched and really do make the perfect team. There are some things I could take issue with, as other reviewers have stated, but the overall story is so good those few things seem insignificant in the bigger story. Spoiler alert: There is a scene where the H and h have the villain in their clutches and let him go, however, the H continues to monitor the villain and has the approval to step in when it becomes necessary. There is no way the H would let the villain abscond with more women, even if it meant he had to break his vow to Gwyneth. Yes, it was a questionable decision, although I understand why he made it.

She meets Logan Ramsey after an attempted kidnapping of herself. She aided Logan’s efforts to help two young girls flee to the Grant lands. After the youngster’s mother joins them, she leaves to track down her quarry in Glasgow. Logan follows and saves her life. Their venture, together takes them through many harrowing events . . .leading them to grow fond of each other and reliant on each other. This is a wonderful story of love, trust, fear, bravery, family needs and their own HEA! You’ll love the characters and the fast pace! Don’t miss it!

I have read all of KM's books and am so pleased that she was tamer then in her last read. The author is forced to overlap her story in order to paint a complete tale and I agree with her. That means some of the dialog and scenes you've read from the previous book is there again. I liked this idea because if I had picked up this book first it works as a stand alone. Some old villains are back in this book and they are still up to their wicked ways.

This also is a milder book than the books previous and while I appreciate the lack of viciousness I missed some of the drama she has brought fourth in the past. I know you just can't please me. Her last book was too violent, IMO, and here I am complaining about this book not having enough. It is a nice story and Lily, Ashlyn, and Gracie are so dear to my heart after reading all of their torment. One of my favorite parts was on their journey back to the Grants keep.

Logan is snuggled up with little Gracie for the night, while Gwyneth is with Ashlyn. Part way through the night Ashlyn appears in front of Logan. She is a popsicle and wants to cuddle in. Next thing you know Gwyneth gives up being stubbornness and all of them are all under his plaid. It is such an adorable image to have these 3 terrified woman under the protection of Logan Ramsey. He is such a tiger ladies and not too proud to admit when a lady has a better shot than him. He is gentle with her and encourages Gwyneth to overcome her father and brothers murderer.

Thank you KM for putting this in Kindle format for all of us to enjoy. I hope to read many more of your books yet to come. This read does have love scenes and I liked the originality of there locations. Logan made a nice H. I really have liked all her H. The villain wasn't as prominent as in the other books. Usually the villain has his moment to do his dastardly deeds (and he did) it just wasn't as much of a focus as in her other books. I appreciated the fact we got time to spend with the couple together more than in the last book and happy to see all her old characters. Enjoy!
