The h is kidnapped 3 times and it became a little too much. The H/h go through most of the first 1/3 not really having many true conversations.
They’re really 3 stories going on so you have to pay attention to the clues the author gives on whose land they are on. As others have stated, a lot of this story is setting up the character’s for future stories.
There is lovemaking outside of marriage. Heat level 5 out of 5 and once they get started it is often.
Some of the language is modern at times such as Pillow Talk.
Many nasty villains within the 3 stories and most get what they deserved. I liked the spunk of the h who also was dealt a bad hand but didn’t let it pull her down.
Some suspense, twists, n o cheating, no cliffhanger for our couple, HEA, some romance and plenty of steam near the end. I do recommend this story and author. (ljb).
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Mary I have to ask, are you tired? Did you run out of ideas, and if so, why? Rolfe and Annie had such a beautiful love story and it was a strong story telling from the beginning all the way until people started dying. I was caught up in a realm of belief, and hope, and spontaneity. Then confusion started setting in with Terin
and the new Campbell Laird, which led me to question the obvious, would they be married? Then Rolfe gives some crazy explanation why he will not gain a dowry for marrying Annis?! What just happened?! I want to give this story 5 stars because it was so good but up to a point it went left. The summer wasn't bad but it just really left me feeling cheated and disappointed with Wine throwing the ending together with a summary. She could have put in a romantic proposal, she could have added a relationship between her and her maid servants , or the joy she and Rolfe felt when she became pregnant. There was just other story lines to be added. Hey whatever happened to shirt Annie was suppose to make Rolfe?
Rolfe could be her savior and then he isn't. He does realize he feels more for her.I do hope we get more of them in the series. The epilogue was sweet. It gives us a glimpse. But I wish we found out what happened to her nurse.
I loved the book! I want to read the next one. As soon as it's on pre-order its a one click.
Intriguing, entertaining and a sizzling chemistry pull this story together and as Mary always does, holds your interest until the end!
A glimpse of future characters toward the end that only made me wish for this next in this series to hurry and come out!
