Spoilers below!! (For parents who want to be prepared for what happens before letting their kids read "All the Pieces Fit")
________________________
Izzy appears to have betrayed her friends, Hilo, and all the humans of Jannus by helping Razorwark build a robot army and send it to wipe out all of the humans on Jannus. All characters are sad, confused, and angry at sweet Izzy, who keeps insisting it all has to be done. That she can see how all the pieces fit together in the end.
Then Izzy sacrifices herself to give Hilo her power. In a drawn out sequence, she essentially dies. Others cry over her lifeless body. My kids were literally crying. Then Hilo confronts Razorwark and appears to die as well, but the robot army doesn't get sent to Jannus, so that planet is saved. Razorwark destroys himself in one final act of self sacrifice to give his power of emotions to the robot army. More characters cry and mourn hilo's death. My kids cried harder. Then Hilo shoots back to earth through a portal and has been transformed into a human boy, not a robot, and is adopted by the Lim family. Izzy is gone but Hilo gets a normal human life filled with love and friendship.
In this story there is lots of talk about Razorwark's rage, hatred of humans, determination to make them all pay for his heartache. Dr Bloodmoon talks about heroes having to sacrifice everything. A wonderful sequence shows Gina finally fully coming into her magical powers and extraordinary abilities. DJ's mom and sister are more involved in the action, which is fun to see. Those girls are badass! And of course Polly providing great quotable commentary to elicit some much needed laughs!
As a parent, this final book was a struggle because the first few books of the series were more light-hearted and humorous. Getting into these heavy themes and discussions and seeing my kids cope with a beloved character's death was very difficult. Judd Winnick is an extraordinary author and artist and has created a truly remarkable series that I highly recommend. Just be prepared for this final installment to bring up some bigger issues and questions for younger kids, and quite possibly some tears.

But... My son cried in some bits. I’m not sure what age it’s aimed at, son is nearly 7 (and he also cried over the Dogman scene where Petey abandons his son L’il Petey), but it did get a bit dark for a children’s book. Surprised the editor/publisher didn’t prevent the author from putting death in a book aimed so young. As the dead characters are robots, I managed to convince my son that they are just turned off and will be turned on again in a sequel. But still. I don’t want a kids’ book to provoke long tearful discussions about the nature of death, thanks. If every kid who buys it cries over this book that’s a lot of needless tears around the world.
On the bright side, there is no cliffhanger which is just as well since it’s a year until the next book! That said the ending didn’t feel quite right - I think what happened to Hilo was supposed to be a good thing, but my son felt Hilo was much better off before the change. Not sure a child’s perspective has been taken into account. We want flying, and laser hands!
Not sure I will buy the next one, I don’t have confidence that it’s not going to have upsetting material.

It is really funny just love it!!!!!!!!
It's fantastic
