This was a relatively low angst sweet read. Though Gideon does suffer a lot, they’re nothing overly gruesome about his suffering depicted. No matter how it may have seemed his life was on the line, we all knew he was going to make it.

I loved the role reversal we had going on in this one. The Omega runs the pack and the Alpha stands down. I loved that Gideon was willing to be a stay at home alpha and even bottom for his omega. (I REALLY wish we would have gotten that scene!) The dynamic between Morgan and Gideon was just wonderful.

As with all of these books, the steam is pretty low, but the sweetness is extra high. This was a lovely series opener and I am looking forward to Kian’s story.

In this particular story, their leader finds his mate nearly dead in the woods, and this is their romance and HEA. I really enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to more!

This two hour read is the first in the Asilo Pride series. Although the book has characters from previous connected series, I feel that it can be read as a stand-alone or as a first before deciding if you want to read the other related books. Morgan and Gideon were very good MCs. I liked that Gideon didn’t subscribe to the toxic masculinity which a lot of shifter alphas exhibit. I noted about a half dozen editing errors which appeared to be the result of spellcheck gone rogue. (Mediate instead of meditate; result instead of resort, etc.) Overall, this was an entertaining start to the new series, and I look forward to Kian and Cooper’s story next.

Oh the plot was good as a starting off point but every time it got to a section you wanted more detail on you were already moving in to the next bullet point of the story.

It felt like the spot light was not on the romance of the story even though that’s how it felt it should have been.

I might read the next one. Hopefully that story takes the time to enjoy the sweet points in a story?

This book was poorly written and I'm not sure what all the fuss was about. Gabriel was so passive to the point of having zero personality. Having a sanctuary for those in need is important and those who run it feel a calling but this brought it to a whole new level where mates weren't more important? It wasn't even a discussion and Gabriel wasn't allowed places but was expected to make his home there? His mate didn't help him settle in? I think the authors totally missed the mark on this

Gideon is a huge alpha who feels no need fight for dominance. He is happy living with his omega brother and doing his woodworking. Then their old alpha dies and his son takes over. The new alpha is horrible and drags the pride into doing bad things. He also believes that omegas has no rights and can be used however he wants. Gideon wants to send his brother to safety before he challenges the alpha. He wants to save the pride from the alpha. Before he can make his move, the alpha and the betas come storming to his house and Gideon tells his brother to run to Asilo, a refugee place for omegas. Gideon challenges the alpha but instead of the traditional one on one battle, he is attacked by the whole pride. They leave Gideon for dead but somehow he is found badly wounded and near death on the lands of Asilo by his fated mate Morgan. Gideon has to do a lot of healing to claim his mate and find his brother.

Morgan is the Forerunner of the Asilo pride which is like being the alpha but he is an omega. The pride is a shelter for omegas who have been abused or are in danger. Morgan and his permanent staff help the damaged omegas recover through healing and therapy so they can find a new safe home. Alphas are not welcome at Asilo except as brief visitors in special circumstances. One day his jaguar is restless and he goes on a run through their lands. He comes across the scent of a bleeding alpha on their land. Morgan finds Gideon almost dead on their land and realizes that he has found his fated mate. He brings Gideon back to Asilo to heal but soon discovers black magic is keeping him from healing. Will Morgan lose his fated mate to death or will he recover? If Gideon does recover, will Morgan have to leave Asilo since alphas aren't welcome?.

When the Alpha and his cronies comes to his cabin, he tells his brother to run to save him. They burn his cabin and he is badly hurt, when An Omega finds him. Morgan is in charge of a safe place for Omegas and now has to help him because Gideon is his mate. Now, together, Gideon must find his brother and save his old pride. Awesome read.
