I enjoyed this story and watching the connection between Assad and Scarlett. It is a cruel journey for Scarlett with some dark subject matters. The author in the beginning of the book notes the contents and lets us know where they are located in the book for those who cringe after certain contents. Scarlett was a likable character and to go through all that abuse, she couldn’t process someone actually wanting her without anything in return. It was great seeing her character evolve. Assad, lawd, where do I start? I love the way he saw what he wanted and went after it. He put everything on the line to rescue and freed Scarlett from her current situation. The way that man treated her and build her up was a turn on. I pleasantly enjoyed their journey.
I had two minor buts, and it’s a me thing not really an author thing. I know the author was establishing to us both Assad’s and Scar’s life individually, but it took to long. They both weren’t actually in a scene until 28-30% of the book. I can’t say I was bored but was becoming impatient because I felt I knew enough. The other thing was the epilogue. I personally don’t feel satisfied with the epilogue because the content that was in the epilogue needed it’s own chapter. It felt cut off and because of that I didn’t fully enjoy it the way I feel I’m suppose to. I am sure we will get a peek into their life after in the next book, which is Hassan’s story, but still.
Sexual chemistry between Assad and Scarlett was satisfactory for me. I love their build up leading to the their sex scenes as the author connects them mentally and physically. I also appreciate the way Assad was considerate with wanting to show Scar different and that it wasn’t just all about the physical.
Ok, Assad has crazy family. He has a big family and I enjoyed them immensely. To name a few:
Hassan - Assad’s brother. He is always ready to throw down and I love him and his connection to Vanna.
Vanna - Scar’s best friend, love her. Excited to see how her story plays out with Hassan.
Savant - Assad’s brother. He means well but a hot head. Looking forward to his story.
A book I felt invested in and looking forward to the series. Hopefully I can go the distant and not only be involve 2 to 3 books only. Again, enjoyed Assad’s and Scar’s story with 2 minor buts.

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
In love married and pregnant . Where was the plot and twist and turn . It didn’t hold my interest only reason I finish because I paid 7.99 and believe me it was not worth it .
I'm a huge fan of B. Love but, I did not like In His Possession. I'm shocked at all of the 5-star reviews because, honestly, this book wasn't good. The storyline was all over the place with no real substance to the plot. Scarlet has the misfortune to have twin brothers become obsessed with her. She's essentially held captive by both brothers over the span of five years. Scarlet endures an abusive marriage with Robert for three years then, when she finally escapes him, she's forced to work as a prostitute with Malcolm for two years. Well, she was probably more of a high class call girl since she was Malcolm's main chic and she lived in the big house with him. During this time, Scarlet is abused, raped, and has multiple miscarriages. Her situation was truly heartbreaking and it just didn't seem like there was a way out for Scarlet until she meets Assad. Assad is the head of the Black Mafia and becomes completely smitten with Scarlet from the moment he meets her. So smitten that he wins her in a poker game. Now, here's where the storyline gets wonky for me. Malcolm is supposedly so obsessed with Scarlet but, he's willing to bet her in a poker game?!!! I also thought it was unrealistic that Assad would risk so much for a virtual stranger. He was willing to risk war for Scarlet and they hadn't even had sex yet. I had a hard time getting into this storyline because, it just wasn't believable. It started out slow and didn't get any better. It's sad because, I was really excited to get into In His Possession. I probably won't read book two and I'm definitely not buying book three.
It’s truly a miracle from God that they both don’t have a more severe case of PTSD. Because they both definitely suffer from it.
His due to his mother. And hers due to her mother and the toxic abusive men in her life.
But to see how Assad’s manifested, caught me right in the throat and heart. I just cried when Scarlett’s self harm was the only way she felt like she had any control over her life. Heartbreaking.
In His Possession, is a layered read but I enjoyed pulling back each and every one. And you will too.
I look forward to the next book in the Black Mafia Mayhem series.
Well done Author B. Love.
