So here we have a deliciously dark selection of horror stories, brought to you by some talented authors! The summary here says it best..."A young woman’s night-time escapade goes eerily wrong. A man is forced to relive the horrible accident that tore his family apart over and over again. An underground thrill through ancient catacombs proves disastrously horrific. A young boy is haunted by the scarecrow in the fields behind his home. And a woman is revisited by the ghost of a psychotic killer in the most dreadful of ways."

I'm really impressed with some of these stories. Often times with short stories, I feel like something is missing, but here most of the stories felt complete. I think my favourite was Scarecrow, where a young boy and his sister are abused by their drunken father. The father acquires a scarecrow to watch over the corn fields but the scarecrow keeps moving. Who is moving it and why? This one was equal parts heartbreaking as it was incredibly scary!! I've always been afraid of scarecrows, they are just so so creepy, so this one really frightened me.

As in any collection, there are some stories better than others, but all of them are entertaining and worth the read! I've found some new authors to check out!! I'd highly recommend you check out this book, and as I write this review, the kindle edition is free, so grab it and be in for an awesome ride!!

Matt Gilcheck read the stories really well. He did a great job bringing the atmosphere of each story to life.

I am not really sure what to make of this collection. The stories themselves were very well written but to the likes of someone like me, I guess I am not fully intrigued by the stories themselves. I must be completely honest when I say that this book hasn't left a memorable impression on me. I am a die hard fan of the weird, the scary, the freaky, the paranormal, and the macabre. This collection cannot be described as any of those categories. It may well do better for those who cannot stomach the hard stuff or maybe someone starting out in the horror genre, but for those, like me, it was fairly disappointing. Once again, I cannot take away from how well written it was, but imagination goes a long way, and to reach someone like me, as authors, you all have to dig deeper. My advice to the writers: keep doing what you are doing, go further beyond your imaginations, trap your readers in a new world. Keep it up guys!

I feel only 3 out of the 10 pieces could classify themselves as 'short stories.' The rest didn't even have an ending - not even a horror short story ending. Most of those were like excerpts from a chapter of a short story. Some didn't even make sense enough to infer a meaning.
The 3 stories I liked (& the reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1) were 'Urbex,' 'Museum Quality,' and 'Tell Me Your Name.' They had a good Tales from the Darkside feel to them. Another good piece that had a lot of potential was 'Kimberly.' The story 'Scarecrow' that everyone is raving about is a story of horrible child abuse with a tiny bit of creepy at the end. The rest have a lot of nerve calling themselves a short story.

This is one of the best anthologies I've EVER read. The authors are certainly talented with mature/polished writing styles. While I didn't enjoy every story (different writing styles will appeal to different readers), I did enjoy the various subjects and the way the authors made me cringe or check over my shoulder.

My two faves: "Urbex" by David Longhorn because it reminded me why I never want to go on a ghost hunt, yikes!

My other favorite was "His Neighbor's Garden" by Ron Ripley because of a surprise appearance by a mermaid and another surprise by a different creature (not wanting to give too much away, I won't specify).

Great fun!

Sadly nothing new and most of what I read were not actual stories but more like outlines of prologues or half finished ideas. I gave up out of boredom. Me thinks the author/authors needs to go read great writers of short stories like Ray Bradbury, Shirley Jackson or Rod Serling and get an idea of how it is done.

This collection of short stories is really cool! They are short but not so short that you feel like there are parts missing, that happens sometimes in short stories I think. Each one had its own type of creepy that it added to this book! I definitely recommend it! Anytime you run across books by Ron Ripley or any other of the Scare Street authors you should definitely check them out. I have loved every story I've read by them and if you're a lover of anything scary you'll enjoy them too!

I very much enjoyed these short horror stories. They are unique from one another, and I couldn’t stop reading, even when I thought to myself that I would just read one more. I also appreciate the excellent editing; too many books out there are riddled with grammatical errors and such nowadays. These are talented writers. I definitely recommend this thrilling, suspenseful, even humorous collection of stories!

Very good read! I'm close to being done and I can say I have really enjoyed readying this book. I could have probably finished it 2 nights but I wanted to draw it out as much as I could. Again,If your into the DARK,SUPERNATURAL,UNEXPLAINABLE And Paranormal things we ofton question in this world, this would be a nice addition to buy. I've never really liked 'SHORT STORY' Books much but this 1 thus far has surpass my expectations

will update further:

Horror anthologies are my favorite, and this did not disappoint. ALL of the stories of this book were really good, and had me eager to find out how each one would end. The one thing that drove me batty though was the first story--I understand all of the stories in this end on cliffhangers, but this one was especially maddening! I SO wanted to know how that story would "end". I wanted more to the main characters story. But then, that's what makes a good short story, too, leaving them wanting more. And I do!

Very good short story anthology. I enjoyed the stories a lot and even more so because of the scope. Covers all the ground from cursed relics to murderous scarecrows. If you are even remotely interested in horror shorts, try this collection. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
