Janice Maynard knew she loved books and writing by the time she was eight years old. But it took multiple rejections and many years of trying before she sold her first three novels. A typical fake fiance story that was well written and entertaining. There was a surprising little intrigue involving a villian out for revenge that was not revealed so one must continue this series to see what happens next.

A great start to TCC Houston

Janice Maynard is one of my favourite authors and I just love her writing style so she is one of a few Harlequin Desire authors I read.
Hot Texas Nights is the first book in the Texas Cattleman's Club set in Houston and it was a great start to the series!
The plot was very interesting, the main focus was on Aria and Ethan relationship but we got hints about future books in the series that really made me read them all.
Aria and Ethan know one another for many years but they were only friends.
Ethan is not looking for a relationship, he doesn't want to get married and since he knows Aria is looking for a long term relationship he made sure they will only be friends
But one night of passion will change everything between them.
.
As much as Ethan is trying to forget his hot night with Aria he can't get her out of his head, so when he has the chance to help Aria by paying her father's debt and acting as her fake fiance he jumps head first and prevent her father from forcing her to marry someone she doesn't care for at all
Aria always had deeper feelings for Ethan but she hide them for many years but now when they are acting as a loving couple it's getting harder and harder to hide her true feelings.
I really enjoyed reading about Aria and Ethan.
Aria is a strong, independent woman and she is not afraid to speak her mind and the chemistry between her and Ethan was very strong but he is so afraid to act like his dad so he keeps pushing Aria away.
I can't wait to discover the secrets of some of the secondary characters like Ryder Currin, Sterling Perry and to find out who the villain behind it all is.

Couldn’t Put It Down

The TCC is expanding! The Texas Cattlemen’s Club is opening a new location in Houston and childhood friends Aria Jensen and Ethan Barringer are both involved- Aria works for the TCC and Ethan is the contractor overseeing the renovation of the new club.
Both Aria and Ethan have had. Thing for each other for years but have never acted on their attraction, actually going so far as to hide how they really feel. Both also carry some baggage. Ethan has sworn off long term relationships because his father cheated on his mother and Aria’ father had a gambling problem.
A chance meeting at the diner in Royal leads them back to Aria’s house to celebrate Ethan getting the renovation contract. One thing leads to another and the both end up admitting to and acting on their attraction before ending the night with a disagreement.
Aria’s father later informs her he’s gone too far with his gambling and could lose the family business. Then springs it on her that she can save them by agreeing to marry a man she doesn’t like.
Ethan offers to pay her father’s debt if she’ll pose as his fiancée to satisfy his mother and take some of the pressure of him about marrying and settling down.
It doesn’t take long for both to realize it’s going to be hard to walk away in the end.
This book hooked me from chapter one and I couldn’t put it down! I can honestly say this is probably one of my all-time favorite books by Janice Maynard. Very well-written, the story just flowed from start to finish. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series.

Hot Texas Nights is the first in the new Texas Cattlemen’s Club Houston series. Ethan Barringer’s Company is chosen to remodel the new Texas Cattlemen’s Club in Houston. Aria and Ethan have known each other for years. Unfortunately, Ethan isn’t the lasting relationship type or forever guy and he knows that Aria is and has kept his distance. Right before he leaves for Houston he and Aria meet up and spend the night together! Arias dad is a gambler and in order to take care of his debt he agrees to get Aria to marry someone who will pay off his debt. Aria is torn between protecting the family and their business or lose everything? She chooses marriage to a man she does not like. When Ethan finds out he comes to the rescue he needs Aria to act as a fake fiancé for him. Great watching this fake relationship develop! I also liked how different characters are introduced and you are left guessing who’s story will come next! Of course we are left with a mystery troublemaker!

Hot Texas Nights by Janice Maynard is part of the Harlequin multi-author Texas Cattlemen’s Club Houston series. It is a fun read like most of that series. Ms. Maynard brings her wonderful easy to read style to this fake fiancé story.

The characters are longtime friends so they progression to a fling while working together seems safe. Of course, life is more complicated than that, with their working together, the bad risks business father and their personal feelings for each other. Not really sure what to say about her dad, what kind of person uses their children as a commodity? Thank goodness friends are better than family. This is a series that you never doubt that the good will win in the end or that true love will be found.
