Sorry but this was a completely ridiculous plot...the big family secret of teenage pregnancy may have been a plot line in the 1950s, but in the 1990's? Common! Also several of the sister were truly annoying.

As for the sisters starting an inn mentioned in the blurb (a common chick lit re-do theme)...that is a paragraph or so at the end of the book.

Will give this author wide berth.

When I am reading a good piece of fiction, it's as if I can see the "movie" of that story unfolding in my mind's eye. I feel like I'm there with the characters. That just didn't happen in this story at all. I was 30% into the book (Kindle) before I even had all the characters straight in my head. The introduction to each wasn't full enough. I never felt like I "knew" the characters.....felt what they felt......understood life from their perspective. It was disappointing.

I seldom put a book down and not finish it - this was one of the exceptions. After 3 chapters I bagged it. Did not flow, characters were not believable and the writing/plot was boring and disjointed. I was hoping for better, sadly disappointed. Definitely not an enjoyable read.

Four sisters have met to hear the reading of their mother's will. Three of the girls left home but the youngest stayed home to care for their mother. None of them kept in touch with each other not even with the mother. Once the will is read, the story should have gotten interesting but to me it just got confusing. The story line revolved around the youngest sister being left out of the will. Letters written by their mother to each sister should have solved the mystery but it seemed like the author had to keep thinking up events so the book would be a full length one. The ending was a surprise but it took too long to arrive at it.
I have read this author's books and have greatly enjoyed ever one but this series is a no no for me!

It is the story of the relationship between 4 sisters, secrets that come out when their mother dies, sorting out relationships with the men in their lives, and navigating how to move forward. I found the characters delightful and compelling, and the story was heartwarming and emotional. I look forward to reading more of her books!

Prequel novel. Not a romance

This actually identifies itself correctly as a novel … not a romance. It is more of a prequel to the next 3 books. Not sure why the 4 sisters only need 3 books for their stories. The sisters have come home first for their not-so-nice mom’s funeral and then reading of the will. 1 sister was caring/living with mom and is the youngest by over 12 years; now an adult teacher. The other 3 are middle aged and having career/relationship issues. The cause of the gap is quickly obvious. It dragged quite a bit getting to the final updated and more accurate will reading. Clues to at least 2 future romances are given. So, it is like a Prequel. I almost put it down several times.

I have got to page 52 and realise life is too short for this, really annoying characters I remember this sort of nonsense in my mother’s magazines in the 50s it feels that out of date. I won’t be reading anymore of this or any of this series. I can’t believe it had 4 stars.
