We love the Jane Yolen “how do dinosaurs...” book series. We are not Jewish but we do celebrate Chanukah with family friends annually. We got this as a gift for 3 & 1 year old siblings. We were very excited we could share a book series we like and it was perfect for the holiday! The rhyming in the book is a little awkward, but my friend really appreciate the gift, and said there’s not as wide of a selection of Chanukah children’s books out there (her spouse is Christian so they also celebrate Christmas with her kids, and apparently noticed the difference).

We also bought it as a gift for another friend to read to his grandson. Also well received.

I love Jane Yolen's Dinosaur books because they not only teach behavior expectations but give non-examples as well. My classroom has a large well-used bin of them. I celebrate Hanuka but most of my students don't. This book gives the essentials of the holiday in a fun, engaging way. I also bought the Xmas book so my students can teach me about their holiday. I find asking a pouting/angry child "Does a dinosaur pout/stamp about?" helps them change their behavior gracefully. Read these, even to older children.
