I SOOOOO wish I had had this book when I was raising my kids!!! This is the way to raise kids and greatly reduce the tug of war that so often goes on. This method helps raise kids who are compassionate, understanding of the feelings of others (because they have never been denied their feelings) considerate, respectful and able to make the right decisions.
There is no such thing as a conflict free household when raising children but this method greatly brings greater calm to dealing with children, reduces the tension, anger, rebellion and bad feelings that often ensue.
Every parent should be given a copy of this book after delivery of their child!!!!
Another GREAT book by the same authors - How to Talk so Kids Can Learn, should be required reading for every teacher but you can use it too as a parent at home to help your school age kids!
Great stuff!!!! Highly recommend this book!
My DIL, a busy parent, listened to her tape in her car, on her way to work as a phone triage nurse. She was able to apply much of what she'd so recently been learning during phone calls from patients. She reported adding those fresh new skills had contributed significantly to improved effectiveness, brevity, and patient satisfaction of their interchanges -- a bonus.
