Major Disappointment

James Garner and Debbie Reynolds what could go wrong? This movie. Predictable over used plot - the majority of the movie consist of half-naked females plastered on the screen. Sent straight to the trash.

This movie is classic light comedy... a little corny... as were many 60's era comedies. Enjoy it for what it is... just a fun movie.

Love It! Middle Age Female Comeback
Verified purchase
I love this movie, as most of Debbie Reynolds high energy comedies, this one is no disappointment. It's the story of middle aged revival..at a time when many women (and men) direly feel and equally dread the loss of their strength, vitality and sexuality, this hysterical farce pulls all those elements together while reinforcing the strength of a quality marital love without sacrificing good parenting in the process.

Debbie Reynolds is feminine dynamite as she wows the French with her sizzling middle age figure and reminds her hubby that good things, do, indeed come in small packages! James Garner perfectly addresses the sterotypical oblivious middle aged husband who cannot see his wife through the trees...that is, until all is unveiled before a more appreciative audience. Charming comedy, great glimpse of the 60's and just plain old fun.

A movie buff who never would have thought I'd hear myself criticizing a movie with 2 screen icons

The idea for the story was good, but their acting (or maybe it was just written and directed badly) wasn't very good OR convincing.

Baby-Boomers' Delight

Garner and Reynolds do not disappoint. What I particularly love is the moral decency of the married couple -- a rarity in more recent films. They are faithful to one another despite temptations and adversity, which is commendable and satisfying. If you long for a great '60s era romp, this is highly recommended.

A funny and very enjoyable movie! James Garner and Debbie Reynolds play 2 parents at odds over their teenage son's desire to travel to Europe alone. Dad's for it, Mom's not! The result? Everyone goes to Europe, a trip that provides some very funny and hilarious moments. Dad (he's a photographer) is sent on assignment, with son as his assistant, to photograph a group of teenage girls traveling through Europe. Mom has rented a beautiful French villa at which to relax. Dad and son plan to join her once their assignment is finished, but until then the notorious playboy owner of the villa has other ideas for Mom! Pop some popcorn, sit back, relax and watch the fun!

I really enjoyed this movie. James Garner is one of my favorites. I fell in love with "Maverick" when I was a teen--who can resist tall, dark and handsome and he makes you laugh too? Debbie Reynolds is great in everything she does and this movie is no exception. If you are looking for a fun, light-hearted movie, this is it!
