Maya Hawke way over-plays her role, in my opinion. Just too heavy-handed. Or maybe it's the short-comings of the script??? Then again, maybe it is actually a reflection of Marc Meyer. The film seems to be just too bleek and adverse from the start, no vision, no textural plays, no dynamics... The children are not believable as children, to say the least, nor the spousal connections...no sense of inter-connection between any of the characters... mis-cast perhaps???? in just about every character. I completely wonder why this film was made? it will not inform you, will not make you think...just bummer from start to finish. Liev Shrieber sure picked a role depicting impotency...but then again, this pretty much describes every person in this film... So, was this intentional? I wonder, can someone please ask the director; the film is this way,on purpose? Why???? With so much material, it seems impossible to fail...but he did...this film fails immeasurably... and I must say, I can guarantee that in the future I will steer clear of anything involving Maya Hawke... is she an actress????
