I recently got a different DVD series. The first disc forces you to watch through a 5 minute commercial every time you turn the player on.
This one, season 1 of Hunter, and apparently all Mill Creek collections give you what you paid for. No commercials.

If I wanted to watch commercials, I'd watch you tube, or TV. I didnt pay to get mandatory commercials.
Its a nice quality version. Perhaps the only annoying feature of Mills Creek is they have a 90 second or so preview, and you can't get around it. I mute the TV, and cover my eyes, so I can't see it. Some of the fun is watching a show, and not knowing which episode it is at first. The Rockford Files is the same way. Sometimes you see the preview, and you dont even feel like watching it. You just saw the highlights. Other than that, they are perfect. They started showing the Perry Mason movies on TV, and the first one made in 1985 is much more grainy than this Hunter disc which was first shot in 1984. Nice quality, very happy.

Great buddy cop show. Some great chemistry between Hunter and McCall the fist two seasons were all action which was great. But once the network found it has a hit show it just had to exert its power and change things a bit. Less action scenes in seasons 3 and up but the story lines were still great. And Stefanie Kramer is so beautiful it hurts to look at her. The moments where Hunter and McCall share personal banter is great. They won't ever make them like this anymore. Not to mention Garrett Morris. Great show and cast.

These are fast paced action detective episodes. The stories are entertaining and the acting is excellent. Hunter is a no nonsense detective with, at times a sarcastic sense of humor. McCall is a strong woman/detective but not obnoxious. Both characters have mutual respect and play well against each other as they get the bad guy.

Very good show. I remember when it was on tv. All the seasons are available on Amazon Video here on their website thank goodness!

I knock off a star because some music appears to have been replaced. For example, the motorcycle cop episode seems to have music from the '90s that doesn't fit with when this show was made. I want all the original music, even if it costs a little more.

I bought this episode because I signed up for a free trial of amazon prime. I just wanted to see if I could watch the first episode on my tivo through amazon. I didn't mean to buy it because I thought I could watch it for free with my amazon prime membership but I was wrong. It was only $2, so I didn't dispute the charge. Besides, I love Hunter episodes! I bought the entire 7 seasons series. I got really addicted to watching Hunter on Hulu.com because there was nothing on tv and I remembered it from my childhood. My mom use to watch it. I wanted to just check it out because I like watching old tv shows. They give you a glimpse into the past and are all new to me because I haven't seen them before. Hunter reminds me of a few cop/crime dramas of today and I LOVE the relationship between Hunter and McCall. The friendship between Stefanie Kramer and Fred Dryer was real, on screen and off. It was a funny/drama/crime thriller all rolled into one. I would definitely recommend the series to anyone who's a fan of the genre.

My favorite tv show of all time!!!

I was in junior high when this show was on. Loved everything about it especially Dee Dee Mcall! Ouch.... Fred Dryer's the man!!!

I'm glad Anchor Bay picked up the rights to the show, hopefully we'll get every single season, including the movies as well...

As far as specs go... Pretty much bare bones, except for an interview with executive producer Stephen Cannell, and Stefanie Kramer. She still looks good for an old broad!

There's only a stereo track here, but the dialogue sounds really crisp and clear. Action effects sound a little muffled but the source was probably mono back in the day... Hell, mono's the only way I watched Hunter back in the day anyway... Mono turned up really loud!

Such a great show! Gotta get Mcguyver next!

I lived to watch Fred Dryer tackle and SACK on RAMS football field . Certainly not the first , but one of the better , if not best football-to-acting transitions on TV . Typical 80's over-the-top style acting , but not unbelievable . CAR WRECKS GALLOR!! Stunt personel should be well lauded for their work . Also , the actual actors had to follow thru many of the scenes .
What needs be said of Stepfanie Kramer . TRULY STUNNING . Always "covered" for family viewing and still heart-stopper. Stef re-wrote the "tuff woman" roll well . I recommend this over most current childrens programming . Not that content is all "educational" , but the moral values EXCEED most current programs .YES LADIES : Fred was in great shape after footbal .
AGAIN , pop the korn and plug it in!!

The Headhunter and Brass Cupcake nicknamed pair of crime fighters carry a mantra of violence as far as their supervisors are concerned, therefore the duo are denied resources that other police officers are granted normally. Dee Dee's personal car is used more often than the police units they are issued, because her's will actually run. Rick Hunter and Dee Dee McCall balance work around their boss's animosity, cars that drive themselves to the wrecking yard, really bad guys, good stories, strong action scenes and better than average punch lines to portray a pair of concerned efficient police officers in a rough environment. In other words a series that is full of action, good humor and well worth watching.
