Excellent book but has racist Confederate Flag :(

I really love this book but there is a big problem, one that I almost didn’t see. My son read it when he was younger and now my daughter is reading it. Only recently did I realize that in the back of the book after the story ends where it talks about Texas history it shows the 6 flags of Texas, one of which is the Confederate Flag. I think it’s important to not erase history but it’s also important to qualify the meaning of this flag and it’s roots of racism and hate. The other option in this case is to not have mentioned the flags at all as it’s just not a critical historical fact for story. I love these books but I’m saddened to see this flag appear like it’s harmless. It’s also in the educators guide as well with no mention of what it actually stands for. I know some people view this as a flag of southern pride but People who feel that way haven’t been educated on it’s real meaning or are using that to justify why it should be allowed despite its meaning. I don’t know how the author feels about this flag but I’m writing her a letter to tell her how the flag is a hurtful racist symbol and should be removed from the book and educators guide it qualified to correctly explain its meaning. I hoping others write her too.
