Superstar comedian and Hollywood box-office star Kevin Hart turns his immense talent to the written word by writing some words. Some of those words include: the, a, for, above, and even even. Put them together and you have the funniest, most heartfelt, and most inspirational memoir on survival, success, and the importance of believing in yourself since Old Yeller.
It begins in North Philadelphia. He was born an accident, unwanted by his parents. His father was a drug addict who was in and out of jail. His brother was a crack dealer and petty thief. And his mother was overwhelmingly strict, beating him with belts, frying pans, and his own toys.
The odds, in short, were stacked against our young hero, just like the odds that are stacked against the release of a new book in this era of social media (where Hart has a following of over 100 million, by the way).
But Kevin Hart, like Ernest Hemingway, J.K. Rowling, and Chocolate Droppa before him, was able to defy the odds and turn it around. In his literary debut, he takes the listener on a journey through what his life was, what it is today, and how he's overcome each challenge to become the man he is today.
And that man happens to be the biggest comedian in the world, with tours that sell out football stadiums and films that have collectively grossed over $3.5 billion.
He achieved this not just through hard work, determination, and talent: It was through his unique way of looking at the world. Because just like a book has chapters, Hart sees life as a collection of chapters that each person gets to write for himself or herself.
"Not only do you get to choose how you interpret each chapter, but your interpretation writes the next chapter," he says. "So why not choose the interpretation that serves your life the best?"

This book will show you all good things to come with time, it shows times of weakness, strength, poor decision making over and over again. He is very honest about the hell he even put people through just to make sure he did what he wanted and aimed to do. He also never let it get to his head he stayed persistent and kept evolving. After the almost tragedy of his recent accident, I was relieved to have read this book knowing another will be out soon I hope to see where he has been and how he is moving on from some negativity in the spotlight.
Kevin Hart- this man has one hell of a heart, and frikin gritty, deep strong character.
I HAD TO GET BOTH the audio book & print (was going to get the kindle- but they don't have the whispersync bundle.... :( Kevin Hart- if you enable the whispersync, i would make this a 6 star review! And love ya doubly for it!)
The audio book is HILARIOUS- with all of Hart's own personal commentary in his own charming voice & character.
You get a DEEP dive into kevin's personal past - sex symbols and all! And hart shares with us his most intimate moments and also LIFE LESSONS and how he came from really nothing to the awesome man we see before us today!
There are like a ton of chapters each with a little entertaining nugget of wisdom, insight and life lesson but i wish there were more....

Update: book finished in less than a week, i have NEVER finished a book fully!

The honesty that Kevin has about his life is unbelievable and his insights into success should be heeded by all. Like all people who enjoy success, he recognises what the traps were and the values of failure.
The role of key family members for many of us is overlooked but not by Mr Hart. He recognised that he the product of his upbringing and just as importantly takes responsibility for his own inactions from his youth.
Fantastically funny with an excellent blue print at the end. Read this and enjoy!

I started reading his book before I went to see him on his tour in August. I was around 100 pages in, then seen Kevin, then put the book on hold for a while.
I then decided to listen to the rest of the book on audio. It was the best thing I ever did!
I was laughing so much! Absolutely brilliant!
