5.0 out of 5 stars A riveting read with more twists than a corkscrew!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 18, 2021
Teresa Driscoll has to be one of the most talented writers that I’ve ever come across. Each one of her books has been superbly written, I’m always engrossed from start to finish and I’m yet to guess the ending in one of her books!

Poor Alice is scared witless when she is threatened over the phone at work, being a journalist, you’d think it’d be normal to receive some dodgy phone calls, but this was different, this was sinister! Hoping it’s a one-off Alice tries to put it behind her, but it’s clear she has a stalker when horrible things start to happen to her. As her tormentor only seems to strike on a Wednesday, Alice spends the rest of the week living in fear and wondering how far her stalker will actually go and what they will do next!

Worried for his girlfriend, Tom decides to hire Private Investigator Matthew Hill each Wednesday to act as a bodyguard of sorts to Alice and maybe get to the bottom of who is stalking her and why. It is not the usual sort of case Matthew takes on, but he is always up for a challenge and he is keen to help his good friend Detective Inspector Melanie Sanders too.

We follow Alice’s terrifying journey as someone is clearly determined to make her pay for something, what that is she is not sure of but with secrets from the past being revealed, could Alice know more than she is letting on about who her stalker could be?

The chapters alternate between Alice, Matthew and someone simply named – Him! What I loved about this book is that you feel like you’re reading two different stories, I was baffled as to how they may be linked and if they were at all. I was also kicking myself at the end when I realised something quite obvious had gone completely over my head!

Parts of this story were utterly heart wrenching but Teresa words things incredibly well, so it never makes it difficult to read.

I’m a huge fan of Matthew Hill, I love that he is in each book and I enjoy following his personal story. The Devon setting is always a highlight for me too as I love reading stories that are based where I live.

An outstanding and enthralling read! I’m just wondering when we’re going to see Teresa’s books on screen?!
