Overall storyline is 4 stars - no sparkly Vampire here and he actually seems to be deadly, contemplating the h's death. 3 stars for a few minor grammatical errors, and for being a very short read, and mixing in English words and American words.
This is a serial book so be prepared for a quick read with a cliffhanger.
I initially thought the story took place in England because there are several English words in the story but I guess it's just as likely to be in America.
Farah is a waitress in a coffee shop. Everette is the Vampire who is stalking her.
Everette toys with Farah like any predator does with his prey. He eventually takes her to his home. Bites her and they have sex. Farah seems entirely too calm about it all. I think the average human would be terrified and not so complacent about the fact a Vampire has said he will probably eventually kill her. But not today.
I do look forward to reading the next installment.
There was some small grammatical errors, but nothing to major.
How explicit are the sex scenes 2.5 / 5
Story 4 / 5
Overall: 4 / 5
Instinct is a captivating short story and the first book in The Elite series written by author Hanleigh Bradley. This is Ms. Bradley’s first paranormal romance, and she introduces us to Everett and Farah. Everett is a vampire, and he’s attracted to Farah, who happens to be a human. He becomes obsessed with her and struggles with his desires. Farah is both fascinated with Everett and instinctually afraid of him. I really loved the concept of this story, and I liked how Everett explained the Elite.
So you are aware, this series has a continuous storyline, and know that it’s going to end with a cliffhanger. Therefore Everett and Farah’s story will continue in Crave, the next book in the series.

Author: Hanleigh Bradley
Narrator: Debbie Soelter
Genre: Paranormal romance (vampire)
Part of a Series: book 1 of The Elite
POV: Everette, Farah
Steam Level: warm
Instinct is the first novella of The Elite. It’s short, only about an hour and a half long. The pace is slow, Allowing the tension to build. Both Everette and Farah are fighting themselves and their instincts - Farah to flee and Everette yo not play with his food. Debbie Soelter’s narration is soft and slow, adding to and enhancing the anticipation that Hanleigh Bradley has created. Overall Instinct is a great, but slow, start that leaves you wanting more.
I don’t want to date her. I want to eat her.
I wonder if I should talk to her except, I don’t usually talk to my food
I received this audiobook for free from StoryOrigin. This is my honest and voluntary review.
And his deliciously sweet but a bit 'airish' (I say that with the kindest of thoughts) prey.
Multiple times throughout this story I found myself laughing at Everette - His behaviors and responses are a comical example of the age-old adage about how a woman's "essence" can make the strongest of men nothing but putty. 🤣
This sets the tone for the series and gives us a bit of background - not a lot mind you. Things are still very vague.
In my opinion it is more of a teaser -
And it worked by the way
I want to know what is behind the curtain!
