To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This book seemed pretty on-target, and a helpful summary about the ISTJ personality type, but it's definitely light on detail.
I'll note that I found many aspects of this personality type to fit me, but many characteristics also don't. I doubt that's the doing of this author; I think that's just the extent to which the MBTI system works. I would assume that other readers of ALL 16 MBTI personality types would have that same experience! (Saying "Hey, that's me!" on one item, and then "Oh no, it's not" on another item.) Still, this book, reflective of the MBTI system overall, does paint an interesting and believable portrait of a character type.
This book is well-organized in good, important, relevant sections, and it is a quick and easy read (takes about an hour to read; more if you're really studying it; less if you're speed-reading).
The info presented in this book is helpful, but a lot more detail (3 to 10 times more) in all areas would be more helpful.
NOTE: Having now read 3 books in this series by this author (ISTJ, ESTP, and ISTP), I am upgrading my review to 4 stars. Yes, each one definitely could provide a lot more detail, including specific dialogs, better biographies of the famous people listed, etc.; but as part of a series (which seems uniformly consistent), each booklet gains value via comparisons with other books in the series. Further, I like the fact that there is a separate booklet for each personality type, rather than one large book encompassing all 16 types, because it's much easier to compare a few booklets side-by-side than to thumb through a large book and hold various pages at once. So I’m awarding 3 stars each as a stand-alone book, and a 4th star in context of the series.
This short book has all the info you need to know about the strengths & weaknesses of being an ISTJ. It's short and concise. The book pretty much nailed my personality. This is a good primer on the ISTJ personality. I highly recommend this book!
This is probably the most clear-cut book I have read on MBTI. The author did a great job providing a thorough explanation of this personality type along with many examples. The MBTI is a very powerful and insightful tool which actually did match for me with the current job I ended up having. This was a great explanatory guide overall.
