A lovely romance.

I am loving Deerbourne Inn. After reading My Past, Your Future, I was hopeful that some of the secondary characters would get to have their stories heard. Jared didn’t make a huge appearance in that book but he definitely stuck with me enough that I connected with him. He seemed sweet and a little lonely and like he was just missing the something that would make him shine.

Xander could be that something. He’s also lonely and in the beginning of the story he feels very distracted and gruff or sharp but he’s hiding something and is at the Deerbourne Inn to lick his wounds so to speak. He is trying to get his bearings after receiving some news that has a serious impact on his life. He doesn’t want friends or fans (he’s a fairly famous photographer and Jared is def in the “fan” category being an amature photographer himself).

Jared doesn’t let Xander push him away though and they do become friends, then they become more. This is a semi-slow burn and even if the intimacy happens within days, it felt like the foundation was solid. It has great flow and I really fell into their friendship. It progressed so naturally into a relationship and there’s something about watching two men feel but not act on an attraction that kinda ramps up the feels! These guys have some great moments together and it all just strengthens their bond. Speaking of bonds, there’s an especially cute scene in an animal shelter that really made me melt.

So, it’s not all sunshine and roses and there’s a couple of worrisome moments where I wondered if there was going to be a HEA happening at all but I loved following Jared and Xander on their journey. This turned out to be a very good read and the perfect book to grab with a cup of tea while enjoying the day.

Charming insta-love story

Jared and Xander might live different kinds of lives and they’re pretty different on the surface, but deep down they’ve more in common that might be evident at first glance. Chance - or fate - brings them together and they immediately feel attraction and their feelings quickly deepen. They both have issues, but through meeting each other and supporting each other they can move forward.

This is a charming love story with some angst but it’s mainly about finiding ”the one” and how that can change life to the better. Ivlistened to the audiobook and Michael Ferraiuolo’s narration is wonderful as always. Recommended!

Even though Xander came to the small town for a different reasons, but got more that he bargain for in a good way. I loved all the surprises 💕 throughout. I just could not put the book down.

This book is so good with emotional waves, sweet and snarky MCs and a hot, hard fought HEA. I truly enjoyed Jared and Xander’s journey into a relationship neither were sure they could handle. This book is heavy on feels and emotionally draining; I definitely recommend this read, just make sure you have tissues handy.

Wonderful novel!!

Xander Fortier is a world-renowned photojournalist residing in Washington D.C. Indeed in his high-profile line of work, the man has seen the darkest side of humanity imaginable. Burned out and desperately in need of some time off, the tough-as-nails professional receives additional bad news concerning his health. Booking at least a one-week get-away at the Dearbourne Inn in rural Willow Springs, Vermont, Xander desperately needs to rest, relax and regroup - both mentally and physically. When he first meets Jared, the inn's front desk manager, he is intrigued by the very handsome, but bashful younger man. But given his present tenuous mental and physical state, can he regard Jared as anything more than a fleeting distraction?

Originally from Portland, Jared Langford now works for Nate Harte, chef and owner of the Dearbourne Inn. When THE Xander Fortier checks in to the inn, Jared is both surprised and honored to meet the notable - and extremely attractive - photojournalist. Captivated by Xander's striking handsomeness, openness and charm, Jared convinces himself to forget his chronic introversion and make the guest feel welcome - even to the point of having dinner together and watching musicals at Jared's house. But as the time for Xander's departure nears, can Jared let go of Xander so easily when he has grown so close to him?

I really enjoyed If Only For Today!! The main characters were both extremely well developed, affable and realistic. The two men have real-life issues which are deeply rooted in their past environments and experiences. The guys' mental statuses and prejudices - all caused by past circumstances - make for a very empathetic read. The emotional roadblocks which are holding them back are easily imaginable and rational - but, sadly, are not exactly conducive to a permanent relationship. The plot in the book was exceptionally well-written, attention-grabbing and absorbing. It made me wonder what it would take to help Xander and Jared realize that the feelings they have for each other are genuine and beautiful - and much stronger and more enveloping than they can envision. I especially liked the role of the secondary characters in this book. Nate, along with Jared's parents particularly add a sense of love and familial support to the main characters, making for a more dynamic plot and moving reading experience.

A fantastic novel, full of heartwarming and happy emotions!! Highly recommended! 5 stars!

This is an adorable story of Xander and Jared, drawn to each other upon sight, but Xander hides a terrible secret and feels the need to hold back, even as he's becoming more and more interested in Jared. Two solid characters that make this a sweet tale, their interactions are both touching and funny. I didn't read the previous book in this series, it didn't impede on my pleasure but there were a few names thrown in with little explanation as to who they were, I presumed from the previous tale.
