Ignite: A Grumpy Single Dad Romance Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
My new neighbor is a firefighter - and a scorching-hot single dad - but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose.
(And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.)
Nothing happened, of course - because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year. Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster. Even former SEALs with broad chests and strong hands that make my skin sizzle. Even gorgeous, grumpy guys who have their hands full raising two adorable little girls and claim they don’t believe in love.
Until Dex kisses me one night, and I drop all my defenses.
(Also my underwear.)
He says he’s not gentle, and he’s right. He says I should take the dream job I’m offered in another state, and he’s right. He says he’s too old for me and could never be the man I deserve.
Dex and I might be 12 years apart, but the fire between us is the kind that will never burn out.
How can I convince him to give happily-ever-after with me a chance?

The story follows Dex, a 34-year-old dad whose divorce has left him feeling jaded. While Dex was never the true love kind of guy, the disappointment of his marriage has convinced him that being single is the way to go. So when Dex discovers that his new neighbor is a sweet and sexy 22-year-old, he’s sure of two things: 1. she’s way too young for him. And 2. there can never be anything real between them. Dex can deny it all he wants, but the chemistry he shares with Winnie is difficult to ignore. As they give in to the sparks that fly between them, both intend to keep feelings out of the equation… but that’s easier said than done.
This has some smokin’ hot chemistry and plenty of steamy moments. While it’s a slow emotional burn, these two run hot from the start. I also loved the moments with Dex being a sweet dad, though those are his only instances of softness. I found his personality to be very unappealing (he’s a jerk, but not a lovable one), and in the bedroom he was aggressive and a little unkind. That also made the age gap feel uncomfortable sometimes, which didn’t help. Neither did the “no feelings” relationship style and lack of communication. Had there been more to love about Dex, this book would’ve been great. I love the overall writing style and the storyline has plenty of depth - there were just too many off-putting elements for me to say that I really enjoyed the romance.
From the little girls, Winnie being so sweet and perfect, the supporting characters/best friends, it was the same book. Sorry but it was. No originality just a complete repeat.
I am looking forward to Ellie and Gianni Lupos story. It sounds really good.
Neither is looking for a relationship, yet Dex moving next door seems to put a damper on Winnie’s plans. The attraction is immediate and tension is thick. A little mishap with a smoke alarm, and some accidental nudity ramps it up even more!
The angst is definitely there as every time they begin to take a step forward, Dex freaks the fu€k out. Eventually they take the step, with a push from Winnie. The girl next door that Dex thought was so innocent, turns out to be pretty naughty. They are on 🔥 when they are together. I mean when you go over to borrow some paprika from your neighbor and it turns into a booty call….. 🤤.
I loved Winnie trying so damn hard to avoid falling in love despite her past but I was also so mad that Dex would never admit his true feelings, until it was too late. Oh I was 💔 when Winnie moved across country for a new job! The kiddos and their reactions was just 😭. I was a weeping mess for a while there! When kids feelings are involved, it makes it so much harder for me!
Would highly recommend this adorable rom-com that will have you laughing, crying and smiling uncontrollably all in one.
Such an amazingly written love story. This book is definitely a must have. I love love that this book is a kinda second generation continuation from The Cloverleigh Farms Series. This is Winnie’s story. We met Winnie when she was a child back on Irresistible which was Mack and Frannies story. Now we get her all grown up and I love it. I love that we get hopefully books for more of the kids.
We also get a glimpse at Chip who we met on Unforgettable which is April and Tyler’s son. Ok but back to Winnie. I absolutely loved Winnie she has such a big heart and sees the best in every one. She keeps describing herself as a love addict but I love how the author shows us her real reason for loving so fast. Then we have Dex ugh he is so lovable too. He comes off as this big tuff guy who doesn’t need anyone yet we learn his past and his reason for being so shut down and your heart will break a little. Then we have these two adorable girls Hallie and Luba who you can’t help but love they are just irresistible. I love their journey and I promise you will too. This book will give you a lot of emotional heart and so much powerful moments of realization and self discovery. Oh and it has some really sexy hot scenes you will enjoy as well as some hilarious moments thanks to Luna and Hallie. This book was an all around amazing story everyone should read.

The leads in this book are Dex, Winnie and can’t forget Dex’s two adorably funny daughters.
Dex is a 34 year old, single dad, ex-navy seal and current firefighting badAss! He is all the things you would expect.. Ruggedly handsome, rough and tough. When it comes to his daughters he loves them with all he has, he may swear like a sailor on leave and be a bit of a grump but I give him a 10!
Winnie is a 22 year old, hopeless romantic who gives her heart to easy because she believes in ‘happy ever afters’, however she has sworn off men at least lung enough to win a bet with her best friend.
Throw them both right next door to one another with only a wall separating and let the burning hot fun begin! These two have amazing chemistry but since a relationship isn't something either is looking for they must found another way to make it work.
I couldn’t get enough of this book, i could probably read it again straight away. It was emotional, cute, so funny and of course HOT. As simple as it is one of my favourite parts it Dex totally being bullied by his daughters, it’s 100% relatable. The whole book is written so beautifully and prefect.
Don’t get me wrong there was times I wanted to strangle a certain ex-navy seal but I still loved him!
Can these two over come everything and get their happy ever after, that of course Dex doesn’t believe in.
I highly recommend you read and find out ❤️🔥
Winnie was refreshing, she was a self proclaimed love junkie, after a few disastrous relationships she decides to swear off men for a while choosing to just focus on herself. That is until she gets an extremely hot new neighbour.
Dex is a broody ex Navy SEAL turned firefighter who moves in next door to Winnie, the last thing he wants is the girl next door getting under his skin. But that’s exactly what happens, and I was here for it. After one failed marriage Dex doesn’t believe in HEA but he’s about to get his.
“𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒇𝒖𝒏 𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕.” “𝑴𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒐.” “𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖.” 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈. “𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓.” “𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒅. 𝑵𝒐𝒘 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒇𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐 𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆.”
Dex also happens to be a single dad to two adorable and hilarious little girls. Hallie and Luna stole the show at times with their unfiltered comments and hilarity.
“𝑨𝒔 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒔 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆.”
I loved our MC’s in this story. Dex irritated me at times simply because he had his head stuck up his ass and couldn’t see what was in front of him.
Where as Winnie was a breath of fresh air. I adored her mantras about controlling her feelings - I did chuckle 😂 but she was such a ‘real’ h, I felt I could relate.
Special mention has to go to Dex’s gorgeous little girls. Without them this story would have been like every other age gap story I’ve read. These girls bought humour - they were so cute but super funny - and they softened Dex so we didn’t only ever see him as grumpy. He adored those girls and I think it’s safe to say if it weren’t for them, then Dex and Winnie would not have got their HEA. Children in stories don’t always work for me, but these girls absolutely stole the show.
A must read for any fan of contemporary romance!
