Ignition: A Firefighter Romance Paperback – October 13, 2020
Rookie firefighters shouldn’t kill, kiss, or screw with their boss, even if he's the hot fire chief. Will doing all three send her life up in flames?Firefighter Erin Hudgens transferred in last year, looking for a new firehouse family. Things were going great until her captain retired, and personal problems dissolved Firehouse 15 into chaos. It’s bad enough the all-business-no-fun Fire Chief has to step in. Did she mention he’s really attractive? Spontaneous combustion hot! Fire Chief Noah Baker does not have time for this. As the city’s youngest fire chief, he sacrificed his personal life to rebuild the Department. His efforts are about to pay off when he has to deal with the disaster brewing in Firehouse 15. He didn’t plan on Erin Hudgens snapping his cool, calm professional facade. She’s a complication he doesn’t need, but one he can’t stop wanting. There’s action, danger, and drama ahead as this forbidden slow burn ignites an inferno that might burn everything down in Book 1 of 4.
Written by an actual ex-ER doctor, this romantic suspense series is perfect for fans of Chicago Fire, 9-1-1, Rescue Me and Station 19! Buy Firehouse Book 15: Complicated today.**********************************A message from the author:Warning - There's gonna be steam - firefighters get horny. There's gonna be sadness because patients die - it can be heartbreaking. There's gonna be struggles because PTSD is real - and healthcare is a grind. There's gonna be black humor because the perfect time to quiz the rookie on his love life is while breaching a wall – best to learn under pressure. And there's gonna be swearing too - the next time someone comes into my ER impaled with a hot dog skewer - I'm totally gonna use the 'F word.'Don’t miss Book 1: Complicated from the sister series MetroGen 216.Sign up for the newsletter at https://carinaalyce.com

Ignition took me back to those wonderful days before animated cartoons took over my life (translation: kids entered my world). With Ignition, we have an action filled story from the first responder (firefighter) side, with a sprinkling from the Hospital and Police to make things even more fun, that features a fire chief with professional goals who didn't count on the female firefighter challenging him in every situation - especially when it gets personal.
Ms. Alyce has certainly done her research (and she can go to the nitty-gritty sources since she is an actual doctor in real life), intelligent characters, humor, great dialogue and the action (in and out of the bedroom) are great. One of the best scenes - which I will not disclose details- puts the reader dead center in the action. I have the companion book, Complicated, high on my TBR list and recommend a reader give her a try.
Great storyline with a few plot twists to keep it from being like all the others in this trope.
The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.
The attitudes toward the events that are happening make the story even richer and the characters more relatable.
