In book 3, Lt. Dallas is dealing with a new drug called Immortality, and best friend Mavis has been framed for brutally murdering her new boyfriend's former lover. Added to the mix, a dark and terrible secret has made itself known, further throwing Eve off her stride. All while trying to do as little as possible in arranging her wedding to the handsome, rich gazillionaire Roarke.
On the plus side, Eve finds she likes her plucky, dedicated new assistant, Delia Peabody, and finds herself becoming friends with Nadine Furst and Dr. Mira. Trina, however, continues to terrify the brave detective. I can see where this series was originally planned as a trilogy, and I am happy that author Nora Roberts was equally drawn in by these fascinating characters. At this point, they still have a lot to say.
I have all or nearly all of the series in hard copy, including spin-off short stories and all of the later volumes are in hardback. I'm doing my best to resist, but the call to read the entire set for a fourth time is really strong. Story-wise, this wasn't as strong as the first two books, but it's nonetheless full of that Eve Dallas magic. And in this tale, she gets married to Roarke. Recommended.
In this third book Let. Eve Dallas finds herself doing the thing she's never imagined doing, getting married. Not to just anyone but, the richest man on or off planet Roarke in the year 2058. She can't believe that she's going to be the bride of a high society wedding.
Eve is mentally preparing herself for the torture she envisions wedding dress shopping to be with her best friend Mavis Freestone. To say they don't have the fashion sense is putting it mildly.
Wedding dress shopping becomes even more eventful and stressful than even Eve could have foreseen happening and evolving into a case that is one that has many twists and turns that keep the whole team on their toes.
I would highly recommend this series to others who enjoy police dramas or mystery/romance series. These have a touch of futuristic and sci-fi elements.
The third book in the In Death series has Eve Dallas tasked to solve the brutal murder of a top model. Eve’s best friend, Mavis, may be a suspect of the crime since she was there at the wrong time when the model was murdered. Before the top model was killed, there was drama between Mavis, the top model, and the fashion designer, Leonardo. The model had been with Leonardo, and he broke up with her because he was in love with Mavis. The model, though, didn’t accept that at all and threatened to make Leonardo’s show not go on because he wouldn’t be with her anymore. This is why Mavis was being seen as the murderer since she wanted to help Leonardo.
Eve is determined to find out who killed the model and begins to find out that there is something else dark and twisted happening in the fashion world that involves a deadly drug. She’ll find out what is happening, but it will cost her.
The book also follows Eve and Roarke preparing for their wedding together. Eve is stressed in the book because she has so much going on with the case. Roarke is there for her no matter what along the way. I adore Roarke even more after this book, which I thought wasn’t possible. He proves me wrong each time, though. I love his character so much. Eve is also going through a lot with her past that she doesn’t want to deal with, but unfortunately, it’s starting to affect her way of life. I feel for Eve after finding what happened to her in the first book, but this book dives into it more. Again, Eve has a great support system with Roarke and Dr. Mira.
I loved this book for not only the suspense of it but how much the characters are growing. I love Peabody because she’s knowledgeable and speaks her mind. I can’t wait to follow her character more. I adore Mavis, even though she can be challenging at times. She tries to get Eve to live her life. I wouldn’t say I like Summerset though and wish he would go away. He is not my favorite in the series on how he treats Eve. Someone needs to put him in his place.
J.D. Robb did a fantastic job keeping me on the edge of my seat with figuring out who was the real killer in the book. I was in shock after finding who it was because I was not expecting it to be that person. I actually started liking the person. What was I thinking?
Overall, the third book in the series receives 4.5-stars from me, and I highly recommend this book and series to readers that love Romantic Suspense. Be prepared to be addicted to the series after you start reading it. I know I’ve become addicted and can’t wait to read the next book in the series in April.

I think Immortal in Death was my favourite book in the series so far, it contains all the action and mystery of the previous book but with some really fantastic character growth on Eve's part too. We're to build a bigger picture of what happened to her as a child now that she's starting to regain her memories and it explains a lot about her personality. She's also thawing out a little as she lets Roarke in which was nice to see. She still finds it very hard to express her feelings and there are times when she unintentionally hurts him by not thinking before she speaks but she's come a long way and is finally able to admit how she feels. Roarke has been incredibly understanding about her behaviour so far but his patience is starting to pay off and I love the two of them together.
I enjoyed the suspense side of the story too but I have to admit I'd had a bad feeling about one particular character from very early on so I had been able to guess who was behind everything. I hadn't figured out exactly how it all tied together though and I still enjoyed seeing Eve work her magic as she tried to prove her friend's innocence. It's nice to see that Eve's social circle is growing a little and it seems like now she's opened herself up to Roarke she's finding it easier to let other people in too. I really like Peabody and think she's going to be fun as the series continues but Mavis is probably my favourite of her friends. Eve and Mavis are so completely different but their friendship just works and I love how supportive they are of each other. Eve never doubts Mavis's innocence and she will do whatever it takes to prove it to the rest of the world.
I'm having a lot of fun reading this series and I'm excited to have so many more books still to read before I get caught up.

The characters are the type that stay with you forever, each an individual with their own qualities and downfalls, and each with their own stories.
The further you get into the series, the better you get to know them, and the more you admire them.
Each story is different in its own way, and the development of the main characters relationship is honestly done.
I say honestly because so many seem to be given a perfect relationship which maintains the gloss and ease once settled, this isn’t true in reality, and this isn’t the way with the main characters.
Their relationship has difficulties and pitfalls, the characters make stupid mistakes and work together to fix it, sometimes through compromise and sometimes by accepting responsibility, sometimes alone and sometimes with insight from friends.
This particular book, i enjoy the first appearance of Peabody and the beginnings of true friendships. Again, these aren’t glossy straight away but built gradually in a way that is more realistic.
Although we follow eve dallas, she makes mistakes in her role, and i never manage to guess the “who” which i love!

How wrong i was.
The main characters were reminiscent of the cop & her mega rich barely legal husband in the Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles series before tv scriptwriters got their paws on it.
The storyline was good, well paced & the futuristic components were not far fetched, working very well with what could well be normal at that time.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book & am looking forward to the next instalment.
