About the author

Jim Starlin introduced not only Thanos, but Shang-Chi and many other memorable characters. After seemingly killing both Adam Warlock and Thanos in one of Marvel's earlier multi-title cosmic arcs - for which he won two Eagle Awards - Starlin wrote Marvel's first graphic novel, The Death of Captain Marvel. At DC, under the pseudonym "Steve Apollo," he co-wrote Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, including the series' pivotal 250th issue; he later wrote Batman, including the controversial "Death in the Family" storyline, and the Batman: The Cult miniseries, and collaborated with Mike Mignola on Cosmic Odyssey, exploring themes similar to those he introduced at Marvel. Returning to Marvel to write Silver Surfer, he resurrected Adam Warlock and Thanos, both of whom figured prominently in a veritable franchise of miniseries he both wrote and penciled: Infinity Gauntlet, Infinity War, Infinity Crusade, Infinity Abyss and more, plus the Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch monthly. Less typical work included Daredevil/Black Widow: Abbatoir and the Punisher: POV miniseries. In his later DC work - including Rann-Thanagar War, Death of the New Gods, and the post-52 titles Mystery in Space and Strange Adventures - Starlin continued his explorations of cosmic themes. At Devil's Due Publishing, he wrote and penciled the miniseries Cosmic Guard/Kid Kosmos.

Not so with both Infinity War and Infinity Crusade. Not only were the issues from the main series placed right at the front of the volume, but all lead-up to it was completely left out. And AGAIN, the tie-in issues were placed at the back, not in chronological order. This book was $125 ($250 for both). $125 and Marvel couldn't take the time to place the issues in the correct order? Completely lazy and absolutely no reason for it. Anyone reading this for the first time will almost certainly get confused by the format and where each issue falls in the grand scheme of things. Marvel can (and has) do much better than this and for this amount of money I'd expect it to BE better.
The best part about this omnibus is the amount of material included. The six issue limited series, the related Warlock tiles, and all the side crossover issues. This is as complete as it gets. Another thing I like about this omnibus is the binding. As you can see from the pictures, the spine binding is superb, much better than DC omnibuses which had terrible binding. The pages are thick and the overall book is sturdy.
However, this omnibus, like Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War omnibus, the material is NOT presented in reading order. Only the 6 issue limited series, Warlock and the Infinity Watch and Warlock Chronicles issues were presented in reading order. All other crossovers are shoved to the back thus reading and making sense of the entire storyline a bit difficult. I wished Marvel had organized the omnibus in reading order so fans can have a better reading experience.

Silver Surfer 34 - 38, 40, 44 - 60
Thanos Quest 1 - 2
Infinity Gauntlet 1 - 6
Clock & Dagger 18
Spider-man 17
Incredible Hulk 383 - 385
Dr. Strange, Sorcerer Supreme 33 - 36 (plus material from 31 - 33)
Quasar 26 - 27
Sleepwalker 7
Reading those individual issues won't be the same. Not only does this omnibus collected all these issues together, but the issues are placed in order of reading so that by reading cover to cover, you get the complete story. The movie Avengers 3: Infinity War is based on this story arc. Must have and a must read before watching the movie!
