Characters and story fell flat. Disappointing.

This book had such a good premise. I love the setting and the fact that her characters are all diverse and don't have to be young and hot in order to be valuable. However, this book and the previous simply fell flat. There was too much of Cassidy TELLING me something rather than SHOWING me. For example, during the dinner for Teag's birthday, she goes on telling us how close she's become with all these people and telling us how they have so many inside jokes, etc. instead of just getting us engaged in the room with them and hearing the jokes themselves. It was frustrating and it made all of the characters fall very flat. I was completely disinterested in any of the characters and the longer the series goes on the less interested I become. For me this book simultaneously felt rushed, lacking depth and detail, while also dragging on and seeming to take forever to get through it. Possibly because it never held my interest for more than a chapter or two. It also had basically the same plot as the last book, as far as I know, because I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Disappointing. I really tried to like this series but I will not be continuing it.
