Reminds me of chicken soup for the soul but better!

I love the idea of this book with 101 short stories from different people, you get such an array of perspectives and lessons to take back with you. It reminds me of chicken soup for the soul but this is a more grown up version with more profound 'ah-ha' moments. Highly recommend if you want an uplifting and easy read!

Reading through the excerpts in this book made me feel like I was handed a quick dose of self care. I was especially impressed and moved by Happiness is an Inside Job, Embracing the Takeaways and Stepping into Your Sovereignty. For me they reinforced the mantra I have of taking care of myself and trying to avoid burnout, doing too much. A lot of us seem to take on too much and it is hard to say no. These short stories highlighted why we need to slow down and do self care first.
I enjoyed what I have read thus far. Will continue to use this book as a daily dose of self help!

I love the forward by Kyra Schaefer in which she suggests you read the stories randomly, or as she suggests you "hold the book between your hands and ask a question, such as: “What is the message I need to most hear in my present situation?” Let the book open to any page. You may find the answer comes quickly from the writing in this book." The contributors stories are heart felt, clever at times and always from a personal perspective that may not be popular, but very personal. A great coffee table or bed side book to pick up and read a story here and there.

I truly enjoyed the format of this book with it's relatively short stories and moving content. Each author's words were incredibly powerful and relatable. It's nice that it can be read in small doses so that you can have the AH-HA moment and reflect after each of the stories. In today's world full of mass shootings and constant political fighting, it is easy to become overwhelmed and want to just withdraw from life. This book is the perfect antidote for such thoughts. Each story is told with such authenticity, it is like the author is right there talking to you directly, providing just the encouragement you need. In one of the early stories, the author says, "Each one of us has a story worth hearing." I'm so thankful that these writers were each brave enough to share their story with me--and you will be too. This book is the one I now turn to when the "sleep demons" wake me up in the middle of the night. A quick reading of one or two of its stories and I am indeed uplifted, inspired and refocused in a more positive direction.
