"'Face it, man. You're as drawn to that woman as you're drawn to the mountains. One guess as to which is more lethal.'"
Harley Stephens is a longtime resident of Wishful, California and has recently gotten her degree in wildlife biology after years of working shifts at the local garage as well as going to school. She is always helping her family out but doesn't know how to ask for help herself. Harley and TJ Wilder have a history that dates back a long time ago to when they were in high school and she hasn't forgotten about it. Not that she's holding a grudge, it's just that she is scared of being hurt again so she holds back. TJ is the Wilder brother who is often gone for weels at a time on treks he does for Wilder Adventures. He has always had a thing for Harley and clearly wants her but just when she starts to let down her guard, she throws up her walls and runs away. It seems as though Harley will never let TJ get close enough to prove that they belong together.
"'I'm starting to think it's not the mountain at all, that maybe it's you. You make me feel alive, Harley.'"
My biggest frustration is with Harley and how I could tell she wants TJ but is scared. She goes back and forth so much in the book that I was ready to yell at her and tell her to make up her mind already. I suppose that makes the anticipation build. I could feel the sizzles and fireworks between Harley and TJ through the entire book and knew they belonged together so it was really frustrating that she spends most of the book drawing TJ in and then pushing him away. As much as that bugged me, I love the ending and feel it is worth the frustration. I really enjoyed this series and am going to read some more of Jill Shalvis' books because I loved these so much! If you are a fan of Jill Shalvis or are looking for some new reading material, I highly recommend the Wilder series but I definitely suggest reading them in order so I would start with Instant Attraction. These books are good, sweet, lighthearted contemporary romances and I can't wait to read more of Jill Shalvis' novels!

Update December '12. Just to say that these books are as good as ever, and still there on my Keeper's list. I see that Jill has thanked all her readers for such a successful 2012 - well, all I can say is THANK YOU Jill for writing such lovely heartwarming stories, and as long as you keep writing them, I'll keep buying and reading them.
I'd highly recommend this book and many others from this author!
I'd still give it 5 stars, but the poor editing/proof reading meant there were a few jarring places which shook me out of the story momentarily.
(Two that I remember were "Swith" instead of "with" and repetition of "soft" within the same sentence, something like 'soft cushion of her soft...).
From such a popular and prolific writer, surely someone else is supposed to be checking? I've bought cheaper books and ones that weren't published elsewhere that didn't have any mistakes.
The descriptive narrative was excellent
