As well, the ending here was kind of a bizarre little cliffhanger. It wasn’t even clear where it is going. Maybe it will form an interesting story in the next volume, but it seemed unnecessary to add it to this volume, except to make this one a bit longer and to get more readers for the next.
While I will likely give the next one in the series a shot, I am not super enthused by this one.
The books themselves are not entirely all that deep. They are fast and easy reads that can be reread without getting tiresome. It has been a soft military Sci-Fi series mix. Connor Gates remains a focal viewpoint character and we do get to see some of Noah as well as the addition of a few new povs. this book has the feel of something meant to wet the appetite of fans of the series while setting up the books that will have real meat in them.
I think I went with a four star rating instead of five this time around because it did have the feel of a filler story. It is not bad for what it is and the actual price range for the book justifies it being a fairly high rating in my opinion. It's a good series to have in your electronic library for rainy week read.
The series is a clean series without anything that would justify a warning for young adults and above.
