Ultimately, the decisions of the admirals...
...were the Viceroy's responsibility.
Could the losses have been avoided?
Down on Alfheim, the situation was dire. Some brave men and women had to be left behind for the greater good. Viceroy Miles Hunt, gutted by the losses, needed to stay focused. A Titan-class warship, the Freedom, could be the key to victory, if it were fully operational with a trained crew.
It was not.
Could Miles find another ally to be a wild card?
Sam, the medical Synth, faced something the programmers never expected--a moment where the only option was to break free of the code. The battle was fierce and there didn't seem to be a way out, until Sam came up with a plan.
Would it save them?
The Republic needed a big win, one that would force peace, but they might have underestimated the resolve of the Zodarks. The superships were on the way, but time wasn't on their side.
The tide of the war had shifted.
You'll love this fifth installment of the Rise of the Republic series because this gripping story of survival and grit will have you sitting on the edge of your seat until the end.

Republic Invasion of Intus as described in book three, Into the War

Orbital HALO Insertion of Special Forces
"Earthers in the late 21st century discover a new habitable planet, but they might not like what awaits them there in this opening of Rosone's SF adventure series...Rosone enhances this story with action scenes and chic tech, like neurolink implants, which essentially allow people to communicate telepathically....Stellar beginning to a futuristic saga." -- Kirkus Review

This book, actually the entire series, portrays war as it is. Nasty, dirty, grubby and far from the exciting, glorious portrayals many writers try to show. If by exciting you mean adrenaline pumped terror, this book is exciting. If by glorious you mean to show that men and women are capable of extraordinary feats that in retrospect appear glorious, this book shows some of those extraordinary feats.
This book also shows that the real people performing these feats don't think of themselves as special. Mostly they think of themselves simply as having done their job.
The characters this series share with us presents the experiences from the newest green private, solid Non-coms, rookie officers, mustangs, company and field grade officers and staff and general officers. It also shows a special appreciation of our corps of Medics and Doctors dedicated to the saving of the lives of our on ground troops and Naval personnel.
These are all "technical" aspects of the series important to a few readers. Aside from that, this is one hel...heck of a yarn. "I'M" going to continue reading in this universe and also read the other fiction written in this universe. I'm also going to read the non-fiction.
I enthusiastically recommend this book and this series.
When I finished Into the Chaos, it left off with the Republic Army getting its butt kicked. They had to fall back and leave the Sirius system. The soldiers on the ground were abandoned, left to wage an insurgency with no idea of long they may have to wait for reinforce or rescue. We were introduced to a number of new characters and learned more about the galactic alliance.
Into the Fire picks right up where the last one left off. Right in the middle of a massive battle. The entire book revolves around this singular battle both in space and down on the planet. If you like gritty combat scenes then you’ll love James Rosone’s newest installment of the Rise of the Republic
I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have.
