Megan O’Brien is at her wit’s end. Her three-year-old son has been kidnapped. No police, says the ransom demand. Fearing for her son’s life, Meg has no choice but to turn to her former bodyguard, Dirk Reynolds, who’s now a PI with Brodie Operations Security Services, Inc.
Dirk’s never forgiven Meg for the way she left him after their brief affair. But with bounty hunter Luke Brodie on his side, Dirk knows he’s got to help Meg rescue her son.
The few clues they’ve gathered send them spiraling into a murky world of big banking and international crime. Meg may be way out of her depths, but she’s seeing a side of Dirk she never suspected—one no woman could possibly resist.

The cover pic for Dirk isn't accurate. He's supposed to have a dragon tattoo on his neck and shoulder and have a horse shoe mustache down to his chin. I pictured him bigger and darker.
In the author’s last book, Into the Fury, Megan O’Brien and Dirk Reynolds were secondary characters and easily caught my attention. So I was excited to learn that they are the main characters in this book. Megan O’Brien and Dirk Reynolds are no longer together. However, they, now, meet again when Megan’s son is kidnapped, and she goes to Dirk for help.
The nice part is that I already have strong feelings about Megan and Dirk. Their relationship had been loving and passionate before, and I already loved them as a couple. Therefore, when I began this book, I felt like I was reading about old friends, and was already rooting for their happy ending.
This romantic suspense has many so many twists and turns that I had trouble putting the book down. There were several times when I was sure the story was over except for the happy ending. Then, I would continue reading only to discover that there were even more problems. I loved it!!
This is the second book in the BOSS, Inc series, and can be read as a stand-alone since the author does a wonderful job of explaining the back story. However, the reader will, definitely, enjoy the book more if she reads Into the Fury first.
I highly recommend this book!
Had its good moments but didn't really persuade me as I believe to have read better books from this author.
In any case, the book had its good and even its excellent moments. I very much enjoyed how Dirk and Megan tried to warm up their relationship and how they tried to work through the different issues they faced. I also loved Megan's son's presence, as this seemed to be a ”normal“ yet so charming child. The scenes were the little kid was involved were very sweet without being too exaggerated.
The plot was nothing u usual but it was nicely developed and ended in a very rewarding HEA.
Maybe I should've read book 1 in the series first to have a better grasp of the atmosphere of the book.
In any case, an entertaining and nice story.
The twists and turns takes them to Argentina and a daring rescue, help from an Interpol agent and a helicopter crash in the Andes Mountains. All of the team at BOSS, Inc. come together to work with Dirk to help Megan get her son back and then to rescue her when she is kidnapped and taken to South America. Action is the best word to describe this romance.
