NO DIGITAL CODE
Verified purchase
I've bought this blu ray about 4 times already and none have had the digital code inside.. I currently have 2 copies ready to send back. I will buy these MCU re issue blu rays elsewhere.
Edit: Also, non of the phase one MCU reissue blu rays came with the cardboard slipcover except for The Incredible Hulk. I decided to keep them without the slipcover because i wast gonna waste my time sending them back to get another one without the slipcover. I did it like 3 times and they still arrived without it. Smh.

A real gem of a movie in the MCU
Verified purchase
A real gem of a movie in the MCU. MCU movies nowadays all have to be fool-proof guaranteed to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Bought this movie to rewatch 10 years later and realized we are not going to get a story as grounded (the movie took its time having Tony build and perfect the suite) as this one anymore. It really felt like Tony Stark could indeed create a suite like this in reality, and more than any other movie Tony feels the most vulnerable as a normal human being without superpowers, and it's a nice reminder of that as we watch the new fantastical MCU movies where we tend to forget that aspect of him because Iron Man is treated to be just as powerful as the most super-powered.

Very disappointed.

Movie is 5/5, item is 1/5 (0 if I could) because its advertised as Blu-Ray + Digital but there is NO digital copy. I bought Iron Man 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America in the same series, all of which had the digital code. This item (Iron Man) did NOT have the 'redeem digital copy' insert. It had the sticker on the outside of the case, no insert, no code. Very disappointed.

5 star movie, 5 star actors

I used to read Marvel comics with my Dad. Most were from the 50's and 60's but we bought some in the 70's to read "new". By the 80's I was totally into Star Wars and Ieft Marvel comics behind.

Still the nostalgia was there when I saw this movie, and I can't tell you how happy I was that they got the essence of the casting right. The actors are all fabulous, the script is pretty awesome too. I'm pretty sure I only said, "Oh that's just stupid," once while watching. Which for me is a pretty good measure of a great movie.

This has been watched dozens of times and the disk is still in great shape despite being purchased used. This set even got me interested in the Iron Man Armored adventures [It was a fun show, especially to watch with kids 8-12].

Transofmration of Stark from playboy billionaire who didnt give a damn into a hero
Verified purchase
Iron Man will always go down as the film that started the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It adapted the Iron Man origins story and his rivalry with Obadiah Stane from the comics. The theme was about whether Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) who was a playboy billionaire could become responsible and fulfill his potential as Iron Man.

The film included much of the Iron Man legacy from Marvel. In the comics Iron Man was created when Stark was wounded by Communist guerrillas during the Vietnam War. Here they shifted that to the war in Afghanistan. The original Iron Man suit was big and bulky and grey and they represented that. Obadiah Stane was one of Stark’s great rivals who tried to destroy Stark Industries. Here Stane was Stark’s second at his company and worked from the inside against Stark. At the start of Iron Man Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) was his secretary and she’s included along with Jarvis who was originally the butler at the Avengers’ Mansion but here was turned into an intelligent computer program that assisted Tony. Finally, James Rhodey (Terrence Howard) was made into an Air Force Colonel when in the comics he was Stark’s best friend, pilot and eventually War Monger, but that would come later.

The success of this film comes down to two people. First, director Jon Favreau created the perfect mood to introduce Iron Man and re-start the Marvel movie franchise. Second, Robert Downey Jr. was perfect for Stark. He captured the swag, nonchalance and intelligence of the character.
